Now we’ve seen a lot of third party guitar periphrals, and most of them just don’t really seem worth spending your money on. Then this beast of a controller comes along. The Gene Simmons Axe Guitar is a new guitar periphral by Kobian USA and is probably the most bad ass looking guitar on the market. Now I myself am not really a KISS fan, but I think I can look past the goofy sticker of his face near the strum bar for such a cool looking guitar. This Playstation 2/Playstation 3 exclusive guitar will work with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It can be pre-ordered right now on Amazon.com and will cost 79.99 USD (about 63.71 EUR). The Beatles coming to a rhythm action game has been one of the hottest rumors surrounding the genre since, well, forever. It now looks like this rumor could become fact. MTV have sent out a press release saying that they’re holding a press conference tomorrow about an “exclusive agreement to develop a global music project.”.
MTV owns Harmonix (makers of Rock Band e.t.c.) and also owns Apple Corps. who have administrated all Beatles releases since the 1960’s. Said press release mentions one of the key PR people representing Rock Band 2, which is one of the main things that has sparked up the rumor mill on this one.
Back in June the Financial Times mentioned that both Harmonix and Activision had been trying to secure a deal with Apple Corps., could it be that this is the result? Of course Activision could make a similar announcement, who knows? If it’s true this is the megaton of all megatons. I might be a Manc but you gotta love the Beatles, even if they are Scouse.
We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out, ooh I can’t wait.

Rumour control here, after teaming up with Aerosmith and Metallica ever wondered who would be next for the Guitar Hero treatment? Well during an interview with Rolling Stone, guitar legend himself Slash had this to say on the subject of the Activision series
“Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool ’cause Aerosmith’s one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica’s doing it, that’s great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they’re doing a Hendrix one, which is great.”
Now coming just a couple of months after Jennie Hendrix, who runs the Hendrix estate, had confirmed that tracks had been supplied to Activision and had authorized an official Hendrix avatar for the game. I think it’s perhaps fair to assume this one is more than a rumour but as to what form, stand alone or dlc, any Jimi Hendrix content would take we’ll just have to wait and see.

Yep, apparently there’s a World Of Warcraft song coming to GH3 on Thursday (26.06.08). Apparently it’s a thrash metal song called “I Am Murloc” brought to us by Blizzard’s in house band. I will be downloading it but playing it might be a different story. WOW now joins God Of War, Halo & Portal as franchises with songs in music games. The song will be available for free on the PS Store & Xbox Live Marketplace.
Guitar Hero is a great game but I HATE it when companies want to make you pay a ton for what should blatantly be DLC. So, coming soon to a game shop near you is Guitar Hero: Areosmith. Apparently people who pre-order the game (bundle) get some Areosmith branded crap thrown in as well as the usual package. If this game comes out at a decent (£20-£25) price on the PS3 then i MIGHT just give it a go but I won’t be handing over cash for a whole new bundle or £40 for what could be DLC.
