The update for the DICE developed Battlefield:Bad Company has gone live today, adding four new maps, Acta Non Verba, Crossing Over, Ghost Town and Par For The Course.  Weighing in at 269mb the update also adds trophy support for the PS3 version, also refreshingly the online trophies ARE retroactive, I’ll say that again, the online trophies are retroactive.  So just start up the multiplayer section of the game and sit back and watch those trophies roll in.  List of additional gameplay changes after the jump Continue reading

Yes thats right the one and only David Hasselhoff is to appear in the next update for Pain, due early November.  The Hoff has also recorded a version of the Culture Club song “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?” especially for the occasion, and I believe the overwhelming response to that will be a resounding YES.

As a follow up to Ryan’s post concerning some questionable graphics in the PS3 port of Bioshock, 2K have moved quickly to put the minds of owners of Sony’s console at rest by issuing the following statement to members of their official forums

Hey guys,

First, I want to thank you for the acute attention to detail and the Spartan level of expectation our most devoted BioShock fans hold us to, and how excited you are and attentive to the BioShock PS3 demo. When we saw a post asking about issues found in the demo, we jumped on it immediately. And you know what, you’re right. The texture in the PS3 demo of the downed Big Daddy does not match our level of quality either. This slipped by. We admit it. However, I want to assure you that this is an exception, and not a rule, and while I regret this oversight, we put a lot of love into making this game look amazing for the PS3 and I’m sure that when you play the rest of the demo you will agree that the textures are not all like this one instance.

As for the other issues and concerns, we are currently diligently working to replicate any bugs, and will report back to you with what we find. Thank you for your vigilance here and moving forward.

Isolated incident or widespread problem with the game?  Bioshock is a thoroughly enjoyable title and one that PS3 owners who’ve never experienced before should definitely check out, regardless of the odd dodgy texture.

Guitar Hero: Hendrix On The Way? Yes According To Slash

Rumour control here, after teaming up with Aerosmith and Metallica ever wondered who would be next for the Guitar Hero treatment?  Well during an interview with Rolling Stone, guitar legend himself Slash had this to say on the subject of the Activision series

“Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool ’cause Aerosmith’s one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica’s doing it, that’s great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they’re doing a Hendrix one, which is great.”

Now coming just a couple of months after Jennie Hendrix, who runs the Hendrix estate, had confirmed that tracks had been supplied to Activision and had authorized an official Hendrix avatar for the game. I think it’s perhaps fair to assume this one is more than a rumour but as to what form, stand alone or dlc,  any Jimi Hendrix content would take we’ll just have to wait and see.

After briefly appearing yesterday, Life With Playstation, the latest incarnation of Folding@Home, has officially been released today and is available by updating Folding@Home on your XMB.  Along with the original f@h view there is currently only one channel available which is the “Live Channel” which features a spinning globe shows the current weather in major cities around the world, and news headlines from that region.  One nice features is it automatically plays music stored on your hdd.  At this stage with only one channel available the service is quite limited but as the f@h software runs in the background the whole time it’s sure to give Stanford University a boost in their research, which surely can’t be a bad thing.
