So close...yet so far

[By Anthony]

No nightly updates from me tonight I ventured out to the Manchester Apollo to go and see one of Britain’s finest comedians, Russell Brand. The show was amazing, some top notch jokes and a great performance all ’round. He did a bit of a meet and great after the gig, sadly, neither myself or my mate got to meet and/or greet him. Some ok photos though…well the one above’s alright.

Whilst porusing the interwebs as I usually do I found this little video from the guys at Mega 64. It’s extremely funny and is a great way of showing how much everyone liked EGM Magazine. Check it out below.

It’s not often I give any site or product as blatant a plug as this one, but I feel it’s only right. RebelFM is a new podcast, brought to you by some of the former 1Up guys who used to run the 1UpFM podcast.

The first episode went live on January 8th and I urge everyone to download it. These guys are great, they’re funny and, best of all, they know their games.

They’ve no major backing (yet) and need the support of, well, pretty much everyone. I’m glad to see they’re giving the fans something, even after the Ziff debacle. I give my best wishes to all of the guys over there and wish them the best of luck in the future.

Check out Eat.Sleep.Game for more info and to download the podcast.

Ok, so last year was hailed by the people at Sony as ‘The Year Of The PS3’ and sure it’s sales have grown and the number of people adopting the system has increased pretty rapidly, but still there was the complaint that “the PS3 has no games”. Last year saw the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet, but even that didn’t convince many that Sony’s juggernaut of a console was worth dropping the cash on. I think that’s about to change. I’m about to put my neck on the line and say that 2009 will be officially ‘The Year Of The PS3’. Hit the jump to find out why. Continue reading

Possibly The Best Video Of ’09 Already? [Update] by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

YouTube is a great place. Full of music videos, old movie clips, and people like UltraNeko. After a friend showed me a couple of her videos I have grown to hate this woman with, let’s just say, a passion.

For those who don’t know UltraNeko hosts a ‘show’ on YouTube called ‘Sadie’s Gaming Infection’. Which is usually horribly bad, but this week it was a little different.

Sure, the presence of UltraNeko herself was a little annoying (ahh the voice!) but she had with her a few very special guests.

…The cast of Metal Gear Solid 4, well some of them at least. Somehow UN had gotten them all together to do some Metal Gear Improv. Hit the jump and have a look. Continue reading

It looks like the guys over at LittleBigPlanetoid have been busy using their imagination over the Christmas period, making a list of great costumes they’d like to see in LittleBigPlanet (one of them being above). They drempt up 20 different characters/franchises they’d like to see made into costumes and, well, check em out for yourself.

How cool would it be to have the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in LBP. Answer: Very Cool.

Knit Your Own Sackboy! by Anthony Barlow

Calling all knitters!… eh? Yes the gaming and knitting community has finally collided, yes folks that is a Sackboy. British based magazine Simply Knitting (issue 49) includes a knitting pattern (made by Alan Dart for those who’re interested)¬†for everyone’s favourite sack-based game character, and it looks nicer than those from Play-Asia.

It looks like those who want their Sackboy plushie might have to make it themselves, either that or have a granny at hand. The pattern will also be printed in other magazines, more appropriate for the gaming community. I’m thinking he could look a little darker, but that’s just me.
