After about, well, almost forever Axl Rose finally released, the highly anticipated album, Chinese Democracy. And this spring you’ll be able to play it in Rock Band. GNR already have one of their latest tracks in the game, ‘Shacklers Revenge’, but now you’ll be able to play it in all of it’s…mediocrity. Ok I don’t like it, but for those who do it’s there. Enjoy.

It’s that time again folks. Harmonix have dropped some knowlege about what’s coming to Rock Band next week. It’s Scottish trio The Fratellis. Three songs from their, sort of alright, debut album, ‘Costello Music’,  will be appearing next week. Good news for fans of The Fratellis, indie music and…Scotland? Continue reading

For those who didn’t know, Pearl Jam’s album Ten is coming to Rock Band next month and you might just get more if Best Buy have anything to do with it. An offer from the american big box retailer has surfaced which says that those who pre-order the re-release of the album, due out March 24th, will get a code for three more Pearl Jam tracks for Rock Band. Those tracks are:

  • Brother
  • Alive (Drop In The Park Concert Version)
  • State Of Love And Trust (Drop In The Park Concert Version)

So it looks like Pearl Jam fans might be forced to pick the album up if they want as much Pearl Jam as they can get. There’s no indication if these tracks will be coming for a price, but I suspect they will do at some point. Either way, if you want them early pre-order the remaster of Ten.

After a pretty prolongued absence, ‘Next Week In Rock Band’ is back. This week we’ve got some classic rock on our hands courtesy of Roy Orbision. A few weeks ago it was rumored (and pretty much confirmed) that Orbision’s music would be making an appearance as DLC in Harmonix’s popular music game and now it’s official. Hit the jump for the tracklist, pricing. Continue reading

Roy Orbison To Hit Rock Band? by Anthony Barlow

Now this is a little unexpected. It seems that, music legend, Roy Orbison will be making his way into Rock Band/Rock Band 2. CMT (Country Music Television) have let it slip, when advertising their Boxing Day show ‘Top 20 Countdown’, that, well, here’s the quote.

“Plus, get details on how you can rock out with The Soul of Rock and Roll with the upcoming release of the Roy Orbison Pack for Rock Band 2 consoles”.

There is a pretty big Rock Band ad next to the piece and seeing as CMT is an MTV channnel and MTV games publish Rock Band, this seems pretty likely. Unexpected, but there’s a possibility of awesomeness. Bring on ‘I Drove All Night’!

Harmonix answered many a prayer last week, announcing that Rock Band players can have some classic No Doubt to rock out too, next week…not so much. Harmonix announced a few weeks back that there was a Country music themed pack coming to their game, but I don’t think it’s what people expected.

I’m a big fan of guys like Johnny Cash (and on occasion Kenny Rogers), so I was expecting something pretty damn good, I am bitterly dissapointed. Hit the jump to find out why. Continue reading

It seems like Harmonix have been listening to Ad’s pleas and will be providing some really cool downloadable content for Rock Band next week. The Gwen Stefani fronted band, No Doubt, will be making their first appearance in the game with their greatest hits album appearing as downloadable content.

The first question that entered my head upon hearing what was going to be available for Rock Band next week was “What the hell is up with Harmonix?”. It seems like they might, hopefully for one week only, be aiming for a younger/more emo audience. You’ll see what I mean when you hit the jump. Continue reading

As you may, or may not, know Harmonix tries to cater for fans of multiple genres of Rock music. This gives us a wide variety of downloadable stuff, but on most weeks only one genre rules the content for that particular week. Of course there are exceptions. Take this week for example. There’s some indie/alt. Rock from The Killers as well as the harder Metal stylings of Lamb Of God and Soundgarden. There’s also some Sweedish Metal thrown in there for good measure. The DLC might be edging towards one genre but there’s something for everyone here, nice job Harmonix. Hit the jump for the full list and pricing. Continue reading

A late edition of ‘Next Week In Rock Band’ this week and personally, I feel it’s a little meh. Next week Harmonix are providing customers with a 3-pack from The Dead Kenedy’s as well as some tracks from some unknown bands too. Hit the jump for full list and pricing. Continue reading

The Killers Coming To Rock Band/Guitar Hero: World Tour by Anthony Barlow

Earlier this week Activision announced that fans would be able to purchase a 3-pack of songs by Las Vegas based band, The Killers. However, they never said it was an exclusive deal. It has also been revealed that Harmonix too have a deal with Brandon Flowers’ band. Hit the jump for more. Continue reading

Rock Band’s DLC has had a bit of a lull reccently but that all changes next week. Harmonix announced yesterday that the Foo Fighters album ‘The Colour & The Shape’ would be making it’s way to Rock Band next week. The full album will be able to download except Everlong which is included on the Rock Band 2 disc. The album has 12 great tracks for fans of the Foo’s to rock out to. Hit the jump for the tracklist e.t.c.

Beatles Music Game Will Have 45 Songs by Anthony Barlow

Earlier this week it was announced by MTV that there would be a new music game, developed by Harmonix, starring The Beatles. There were not so many details revealed (apart from a tentative ‘Holiday 2009’ release date). Today it has been revealed that the game will contain 45 songs from the band’s EMI catalog (1961 – 1969). We have also been told that George Martin and his son Giles will be overseeing the transfer of the songs to the new format.

I still think this is a shame that it’s not an AC/DC style track pack (or downloadable) but i’m still excited. Bring on Sgt. Pepper!

As per usual we have next week’s Rock Band update and once again it’s pretty good. There’s a three pack from alternative rock band, The Presidents Of The United States Of America as well as two singles courtesy of Fall Out Boy and Hinder. The response on the foums has been mixed, but I quite like F.O.B. (sorry Ryan 🙂 ) so i’ll give that a shot. Hit the jump for the tracklist. Continue reading
