Activision seems to be all about single artist games with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith out and Metallica and apparently Hendrix coming it’s quite surprising to see Rock Band doing the same thing. EA have announced today that an AC/DC ‘track pack’ for Rock Band will be coming this November.

However, this is no ordinary track pack, it isn’t coming out on the PSN or XBLA. What?! The pack will be released on disc in November in North America (December In Europe) and will feature 18 master tracks from live performances. It will work as a standalone game and will be priced at, the fairly reasonable, $40.

The tracks will be transferable to the other Rock Band games, so it’s likely gamers will have to shell out some cash for another export key. Personally i’d rather see it as DLC, but maybe I could just rent it or buy it and trade it. Hit the jump for the tracklist.

According to our friends over at TheSixthAxis Konami’s footy sim Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2009 is implementing the PS3’s trophy system. It is not known if the game will have support out of the box or if trophies will be patched in at a later date. Trophies are nice and all, but even I wouldn’t buy something I didn’t want for trophies. I might be a trophy whore, but that’s going a little too far.

Mirrors Edge Cool Pre-Order Bonus At GameStop, Demo News by Anthony Barlow

Everything seems to get a pre-order bonus nowadays and EA’s latest offering, Mirrors Edge, is no exception. GameStop are offering pre-orderers a ‘runners backpack’ (image above) as seen in the game and worn by it’s main character Faith.

The bag is apparently big enough for people to carry their games console (PS3/360) or laptop. I think this is a great bonus for those willing to drop $5. I hope the bag comes out in Europe too I actually might pre-order it then.

This GameStop listing also seemed to confirm the date for the Mirrors Edge demo. The site says that the demo will be available on November 6th, 5 days before the game is released. That might seem a little too late for many, 5 days should be ample time though.

More news when we get it.

MAG To Be Subscription Based? by Anthony Barlow

A PlayStation Underground survey seems to have revealed something seemingly sinister about Sony’s massive action game MAG. A survey was sent out to many users of the PSU service and was entitled ’15 questions about payment plans’ and seemed to be related to a game sounding a hell of a lot like MAG. The survey apparently hints at a monthly or yearly subscription to the game, not a good sign.

Videogamer contacted a Sony representative about the survey, to which they replied:

“we don’t comment on rumor and speculation.”

Original. Of course these surveys are used to gage customer feedback, so if you do get one of these survey’s in your inbox please give Sony some ‘constructive criticism’. Maybe we should get ‘Sony Beta Tester’ on the job 🙂 .

Sony have announced what they’re going to be bringing to this years Tokyo Game Show and, to be honest, it’s less than awe inspiring. As per usual there’ll be a lot of older games on display but we’re hoping for a few nice surprises from Sony and other key developers. Hit the jump for the list of games announced. Continue reading

See? Even Big Daddy knows it.

For all of you PS3 owning gamers that never got the chance to play the ridiculously well made Bioshock, the wait is over. The game has finally gone gold, and is now being manufactured. Honestly, I don’t care if its not your type of game, you’re going to play it, and you’re going to love it. And the fact that this one has trophy support, and an extra mode compared to the Xbox 360? If you own a PS3 and don’t buy this, just set your damn console on fire. It’s going to waste. It comes out on the 24th in the UK and the 21st in the US. Buy it.
