Ok, so last year was hailed by the people at Sony as ‘The Year Of The PS3’ and sure it’s sales have grown and the number of people adopting the system has increased pretty rapidly, but still there was the complaint that “the PS3 has no games”. Last year saw the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet, but even that didn’t convince many that Sony’s juggernaut of a console was worth dropping the cash on. I think that’s about to change. I’m about to put my neck on the line and say that 2009 will be officially ‘The Year Of The PS3’. Hit the jump to find out why. Continue reading

Sony’s PlayStation 3 turned two yesterday and shortly after, Sony decided to tell the world that the PlayStation Network currently has 14 million registered accounts worldwide. Sony definitely released this to take a little bit of the limelight away from Microsoft, who’re releasing¬†Mii’s with¬†cover flow ‘The New Xbox Experience’ tomorrow. Coincidentaly that too is releasing to 14 million users of Xbox Live. Hit the jump for more. Continue reading

Koei, the developers behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise, are bringing their, previously Microsoft exclusive, massively multiplayer online game, Uncharted Waters Online, to the PlayStation 3. The game has only been announced to be coming out in Japan, and to be honest it’s quite unlikely North America and Europe will see this.

There have been no details about subscription models or any sort of pricing, it would be nice to see it go with the Angel Love Online model – free to play, pay for micro transactions. The game has been dated for sometime in 2009, little else is known about it at this point.

This article started life as a rant about Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts being a Ratchet rip off. Look what you’ve got now. An article that does speak about said games, but says more about the two companies behind them. I think it’s better for it too. Hit the jump for the monster of a thing.

Burnout Bikes Coming Next Month – They’re Free Too! by Anthony Barlow

Now I thought the bikes in Burnout were coming as a patch, didn’t everyone? Well apparently not. According to our friends over at TheSixthAxis two bikes will be coming as downloadable content next month. Like I said, I thought the bikes were coming in a patch but I guess not.

According to Criterion the addition of motorcycles to Burnout Paradise will give players another 70, bike specific, challenges.

All sounds good, can’t wait for this and hopefully ‘Codename: Davis’ will launch around the same time so I can grab me some retroactive trophies.

Portal On PSN – Nope by Anthony Barlow

Another one outta the rumor mill here. It had been rumored that the supposed Xbox 360 exclusive Portal: Still Alive was to eventually come to PSN, whoot! Well no whoot because that rumor has been squashed by Valve themeselves.

Valve told CVG that no the game would not be making it’s way onto the PlayStation Network. It does seem stupid for Valve to throw money away like this but it’s a well known fact that Gabe Newell hates the PS3 with a vengence, which sorta hurts it’s chances. Hey there’s still hope, The Orange Box made it out didn’t it.

No it’s not an EA released CD (I should’nt give them any ideas) it’s the name of the new Rock Band, 12 song, track pack that hit the PSN (and presumably the Xbox Live Marketplace) yesterday. It was a welcome surprise as I wasn’t expecting it until Thursday.

Not checked all of the tracks out yet but I am going to.

For those who need a reminder the track pack is $19.99 with each track being sold individually for $1.99.

The tracklist is as follows:

  • Amazing Journey
  • Baba O’Riley
  • Behind Blue Eyes
  • Emminence Front
  • Going Moblie
  • Leaving Here
  • My Generation
  • Real Good Looking Boy
  • Sea & Sand
  • Summertime Blues
  • Who Are You?
  • Young Man Blues

I can only afford a few but will probably get the others in due course.
