Sony have announced that a set of Sackboy action figures will be hitting shelves courtesy of Mezco Toys. The figures are four inches tall and will be released this spring. Alongside these smaller figures, Mezco will be releasing special edition figures ranging from eight to twelve inches tall. Sony have also said that they’re still working on Sackboy plushies, now that would be much cooler.

It looks like the guys over at LittleBigPlanetoid have been busy using their imagination over the Christmas period, making a list of great costumes they’d like to see in LittleBigPlanet (one of them being above). They drempt up 20 different characters/franchises they’d like to see made into costumes and, well, check em out for yourself.

How cool would it be to have the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in LBP. Answer: Very Cool.

Knit Your Own Sackboy! by Anthony Barlow

Calling all knitters!… eh? Yes the gaming and knitting community has finally collided, yes folks that is a Sackboy. British based magazine Simply Knitting (issue 49) includes a knitting pattern (made by Alan Dart for those who’re interested) for everyone’s favourite sack-based game character, and it looks nicer than those from Play-Asia.

It looks like those who want their Sackboy plushie might have to make it themselves, either that or have a granny at hand. The pattern will also be printed in other magazines, more appropriate for the gaming community. I’m thinking he could look a little darker, but that’s just me.

LittleBigGolf? by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

It has been rumored that LittleBigPlanet will be invading the world of Everybody’s/Hot Shots Golf. Apparently Sackboy will be joining Kratos as the second lisenced character to be added to the game via DLC. It sounds like a reasonable deal and it’s probably true. I think we should keep it as rumor for now though.

This comes from the same website that originally rumored the, recently announced, Street Fighter DLC for LittleBigPlanet. It could be pretty credible after all then.

I just thought i’d let everyone know that import website Play Asia have got stock of the Japanese Sackboy plush toys that were announced a few months ago. There are four available (Pirate, Solider, Normal and Sunflower – all above) and retail at around $9.90. I’m sure there’ll be people clamoring for these, I wonder when they’ll get released in the U.S. and Europe?

We recently alerted you to an image on the Japanese LBP website showing off some of the new costumes coming to the game this week. Now, the North American LBP site has given us a little more info on what to expect this week. As expected, the Gorilla, Peguin, Shark & Cameleon costumes will be available as well as the MotorStorm ‘custume’ that was released in Europe last week and a ‘Sack-Eating Plant’ (above) which is free. The pricing is after the jump. Continue reading

Whatever You Do DON’T Do This! by Anthony Barlow

The LBP creating, and subsequently playing, community have experienced a bit of a bug in the game. This bug actually makes you delete your save files in order to play the game again. Bad times. The bug involves a massive spinning wheel, set to the highest speed and of course a Sackperson. Activating said wheel will cause the game to crash and for Sackboy to continuously die, even when in the pod. The only way to fix this is by deleting your save game and starting over. Hopefully MM will address this in a patch, but for now just don’t get on any giant spinning wheels.

Need Level Design Help – Look No Further by Anthony Barlow

I really like LittleBigPlanet’s level creator, but I often find myself makign something, well, less than impressive to put it lightly. This new ‘service’ from MM should really help people like myself who can’t design to save their lives. The LittleBigWorkshop aims to help people design their levels, allowing us to create our level on paper before building it in the full game. I think this is something really cool, nice one MM. You can even print off blueprints to help you out.

Check it out here.

Japan Getting Ape Escape Themed Sackboy by Anthony Barlow

Early adopters in North America (or those of us with North American copies) of LittleBigPlanet are getting some free downloadable content, you remember the Spacesuit and T-Shirt? Of course you do. Today it was announced that Japanese consumers will be treated to an Ape Escape themed Sackboy costume. The costume is of Piposaru, one of the key characters in the franchise.

I like the fact that Sony are cross promoting their games within LittleBigPlanet, Sony has loads of great characters they could turn into Sackpeople. A Nathan Drake Sackboy would be cool, complete with half-tucked shirt.

The Piposaru costume is currently only scheduled for release in Japan, but I can see it making it’s way onto every store as downloadable content. A remake of Snake vs. Monkey in LBP would be cool.

Old Snake, Sephiroth Invading LBP by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

It looks like my wish has come true, there will be an Old Snake costume for my Sackboy in LittleBigPlanet. Media Molecule announced that Old Snake and Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth would be able to be recreated (in a smaller sackier fashion) in Media Molecule’s upcoming masterpiece.

There have been no other details revealed about when or at what price the characters will appear in the game, personally I think they’ll be available to download at launch, but that’s just me. We’re not even certain these wil be made available outside of Japan, although with their fanbases MM would be stupid not to.

You can see Sephiroth’s unveiling here

October 24th (or 2st in North America) can’t get here soon enough and those who pre-ordered at GameStop will be glad to hear you should be getting something more than just a Kratos costume thrown in for pre-ordering the game.

Ripten are reporting that GS pre-orderers of LittleBigPlanet will also be getting an exclusive God Of War themed map pack as well as two more greek mythology themed costumes (a minotaur and Medusa). I guess this is cool, but I personally don’t think something like this will be exclusive to pre-orderers. I smell DLC on the horizon soon after LBP launches. Hit the jump for a video of Kratosackboy (you like that? No! Oh well) in action. Continue reading

No Sackboys For ShopTo by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

A few weeks back I reported that UK online retailer ShopTo.net would be giving away a three inch plastic figurine of Sackboy with all pre-orders, I have today been informed that, sadly, this is not the case. ShopTo have been contacted by a Sony spokesperson who said:

“As per our telephone conversation I can confirm that we are unable to provide you with the LittleBigPlanet figurines you were expecting for launch. This is due to copyright / image issues.

As a replacement we will provide you with LittleBigPlanet T Shirts. These will be sent with (or before) your delivery of the game. I am awaiting an image of the T Shirt and will send this to you when i receive it.

Once again I apologise for any issues / inconvenience this may cause.”

This is a little dissapointing, but a free t-shirt is cool. ShopTo have also said they will be adding a £2 voucher to any pre-orders as compensation. That’s pretty sweet, I still can’t believe Media Molecule/Sony have announced Sackboy plushies yet, that’d be a lisence to print money.

Media Molecule have today confirmed that the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive, LittleBigPlanet, has gone gold. This game has been the subject of many a post here on XeNonX and I can’t wait until I get my hands on a retail copy.

The game will hit shelves here in the UK on October 24th (21st In North America). As I reported earlier there are extra goodies available to those who are early adopters of the Media Molecule masterpiece.

I’ve had my pre-order in for ages, can’t wait.

Oh by the way, ShopTo.net are offering a free 3 inch plastic Sackboy figurine (while stocks last) when you buy from them, and you never know you might just get it early *wink*. No that isn’t the figurine in the pic by the way.

It looks like LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy could be making his way into the catapult filled, explosive world of PAIN. According to 1Up, Sackboy will be the first character from a Sony property to be included in the game. Of couse this sounds quite possible but is just a rumor for now. If 1Up are to be believed we could be throwing around Sony’s latest mascot “in the near future”.

Now this is some PAIN DLC i’ll actually pay for!

We wondered when the UK/Europe woould get it’s Kratos Sackboy and it turns out it’s now. The Official PlayStation Magazine UK is enclosing a card within the magazine giving away a free code to download your Kratos Sackboy. Nice!

Not only that but “the first 50 subscribers” will get an exclusive Sackboy plush toy. I’ve got a feeling this is gonna sell out quickly. The issue goes on sale September 30th. I’ll definitely be picking it up.
