Sony have launched the MyPSN service in Europe. Similar to Microsoft’s Xbox.com, MyPSN allows users to view their friends list and such when they’re away from the PS3 as well as allowing users to make their own ‘portable ID and view upcoming events. The service is going to be expanding though. The website states that the service will soon incorperate Sony’s trophy system which is nice as well as some other pretty cool features. Hit the jump for my ID to give those not in Europe (or those who can’t be arsed) a look at what to expect. Continue reading

The first question that entered my head upon hearing what was going to be available for Rock Band next week was “What the hell is up with Harmonix?”. It seems like they might, hopefully for one week only, be aiming for a younger/more emo audience. You’ll see what I mean when you hit the jump. Continue reading

In a conference call this week Ubisoft confirmed that a sequel to the successful, yet not so critically acclaimed, stealth action game Assasins Creed is in the works. The Montreal based developer have not yet released anything on the game and would not even give it a tentative release date. An Ubisoft executive did say that they will release the game when there’s “more anticipation for it”.

Oh come on Ubi, stop messing about. After Prince Of Persia, this game will be top priority. I think we can expect to see this possibly at the end of next year or early 2010 at the latest.

To both 360 AND PS3. It had previosuly been thought that an upcoming demo of Resident Evil 5 would be coming exclusively to Xbox 360. This has now been clarified and it has been confirmed PS3 fans can expect to see the demo too. The demo had previously been confirmed for just Japan but it will be coming to European and North American users too.

The demo is scheduled for December 5th in Japan, but those of us in the West can expect to see it after that date. Could it be that it isn’t coming this year? No idea, we can still get it from Japan though.

Those of us in Europe had a minor update on Tuesday to coincide with the great update those in North America had. Sadly, our full update couldn’t really match that. Europe finally gets it’s hands on Capcom’s Pirate based RTS, Age Of Booty, in both full and trial form. We also got a demo for GTi Club+ as well as the regular stuff from LBP, Rock Band, GH:WT e.t.c. Hit the jump for the full list. Continue reading

A D+Pad source has apparently leaked what Sony have planned for 2009. The unnamed source apparently sat in on SCEE’s Annual Briefing in London and heard some rather cool things. Sony have come out and said that it is all “rumor and speculation”, but that isn’t a denial is it. Hit the jump for the details. Continue reading

THQ Cancels Destroy All Humans PS3 by Anthony Barlow

Destroy All Humans: Path Of The Furon was scheduled for release in America next week, well it’s not any more. THQ have cancelled the game citing “development issues” on the PS3 as the problem. There has been no clarification on what those “issues” were, but personally I can’t see anyone really missing this one. The game is still on course for release on Xbox 360. I think it might be that THQ pretty much fired everyone, maybe that’s what the “issues” were.

Super Stardust Portable Out In Europe, Next Week For America by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

It wasn’t just North America that got an update to the store on Tuesday. Eager PS Store users emailed me to tell me that Europe had in fact gotten itself a minor update in the form of Housemarque’s Super Stardust: Portable. What a nice surprise. The game is priced at £6.25 and if it’s big brother is anything to go off it should be really good. I’ve no idea how good it’ll control on PSP though (damn that nub!).

Housemarque’s Kimmo Lahtinen posted on the PlayStation Blog to tell those in North America that they should expect to see the game appear during next week’s update for $9.99. Not bad, hopefully there’ll be some sort of demo to allow users to try before we buy, otherwise this might not do as well as hoped.

Japan is getting Resident Evil 5 on March 5. Nice news to hear for the Japanese, but thats the tip of the iceberg for what else is coming their way. Japan will also get its own Limited Edition of the game, and this thing is serious. It will include (along with the game):

  • A 2GB USB drive modeled after the TRICELL vaccine as seen in Resident Evil 5
  • A 32-page hardcover art book
  • A BSAA carrying pack, as worn by Chris Redfield
  • And as you expected, it isn’t cheap. The Japanese will be paying ¥12,800 (about $134 or 103.967 EUR). But if your a hardcore Resident Evil fan and…speak Japanese, you could pick it up. It looks like a quality collection of memorabilia.

Skate 2 Release Date Confirmed by Anthony Barlow

Skate 2 is being released on January 23rd (21st in NA). The sequel to the revolutionary skateboarding game comes just after the holiday rush and I predict it’ll do really well. Black Box really impressed with the first title and from what people are saying, this is even better.

The game improves on it’s predecessor and includes some, rather cool, changes. For example, players can now get off of their board and explore the world on foot, as well as move objects to create the ultimate line. As with most things there is a pre-order bonus (in the U.S. at least) – a free “Throwback Pack” which includes some old school threads for your in game self.

The North American store update came early this week, thanks to that big ol’ meeting back in 1621 (Thanksgiving). This year the holiday falls on a Thursday meaning Sony pushed the store update forward a few days, nice of them isn’t it. I, of course, being from the United Kingdom don’t celebrate the holiday but I do like it when there’s new stuff on the store. Nice one Sony! You know what to do. Continue reading

Konami have released the 1.20 update for Metal Gear Online. The new patch adds support for the MEME pack as well as a few new things such as: the ‘headshot’s invalid lobby’ and ‘Stealth deathmatch’. This all sounds well and good, if only it was a better game. Hideo Kojima was honoured at the MTV Games Awards. Kojima was presented the award by Jade Raymond of Ubisoft fame. When asked about the accolade, the legendary designer said:

“I have to say, even though I received this award, let me state that I will not retire. I will continue to create games as long as I live.”

We’re glad to hear that, hopefully we’ll be seeing them on the PS3 exclusively. That would be nice. It’s nice to see Kojima honoured the way he should be.
