Earlier this week it was announced by MTV that there would be a new music game, developed by Harmonix, starring The Beatles. There were not so many details revealed (apart from a tentative ‘Holiday 2009’ release date). Today it has been revealed that the game will contain 45 songs from the band’s EMI catalog (1961 – 1969). We have also been told that George Martin and his son Giles will be overseeing the transfer of the songs to the new format.

I still think this is a shame that it’s not an AC/DC style track pack (or downloadable) but i’m still excited. Bring on Sgt. Pepper!

As per usual we have next week’s Rock Band update and once again it’s pretty good. There’s a three pack from alternative rock band, The Presidents Of The United States Of America as well as two singles courtesy of Fall Out Boy and Hinder. The response on the foums has been mixed, but I quite like F.O.B. (sorry Ryan 🙂 ) so i’ll give that a shot. Hit the jump for the tracklist. Continue reading

This is the funniest story of the month by far. EA have announced today that they’ve got Barrack Obama and Sarah Palin coming as downloadable characters for Mercenaries 2. We know that Palin is actually Tina Fay (dressed in Palin-esque attire), as for Obama, we don’t know. Could it be another advertising deal with EA?

This is great, just a shame they’re not in a better game. Hit the jump for the trailer. Continue reading

Sorry for the lack of posts today people. I’ve been running around frantically trying to get everything sorted for i35. My travel arrangements have been rescheduled so i’ll be appearing there on Sunday rather than tomorrow (thank god), which gives me more time to organise before the show. I will be taking a camera with me to document the event and hopefully catch some of my interviews on tape.

I’d like to appologise for the lack of coverage these past few days, but rest assured there’ll be some good stuff coming out of Sunday (posted on Monday/Tuesday) so watch this space.

The Beatles Not Coming To Rock Band, Got Their Own Game Instead by Anthony Barlow

Yesterday there was a vague press release from MTV concering Harmonix, Apple Corps. and The Beatles. I, like many others, took this as pretty much confirmation that we’d be seeing the fab four on Rock Band in some form. This is not the case. Instead Harmonix will be producing a Beatles specific game. No details on the game as of yet but i’m sure it’ll be similar to Rock Band, it’s only right. MTV didn’t rule out the potential for Beatles content in Rock Band though, which gives me a little hope. The game has tentatively been dated for the ‘holiday’ season…that’s next year by the way.
