PixelJunk Monsters PSP

[By Anthony]

The other week, I interviewed Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert about the PixelJunk franchise and specifically asked him about possbile PSP ports similar to those seen with Super Stardust and Everyday Shooter. He told us to “watch this space” and well here it is. PixelJunk Monsters is coming to Sony’s portable and, personally, I can’t think of a better PSN game to make the transition.

Why couldn’t you give us yet another exclusive Dylan, why? The game is coming in 2009, I can’t wait.

Super Stardust Portable Out In Europe, Next Week For America by Anthony Barlow

[By Anthony]

It wasn’t just North America that got an update to the store on Tuesday. Eager PS Store users emailed me to tell me that Europe had in fact gotten itself a minor update in the form of Housemarque’s Super Stardust: Portable. What a nice surprise. The game is priced at £6.25 and if it’s big brother is anything to go off it should be really good. I’ve no idea how good it’ll control on PSP though (damn that nub!).

Housemarque’s Kimmo Lahtinen posted on the PlayStation Blog to tell those in North America that they should expect to see the game appear during next week’s update for $9.99. Not bad, hopefully there’ll be some sort of demo to allow users to try before we buy, otherwise this might not do as well as hoped.

Have you checked the PlayStation Store recently? It dosen’t have too many retro ‘classics’ on there does it? The Japanese store has a massive ammount of cool, old games for people to play on their consoles but in the West there’s not much.

Speaking to MTV’s Multiplayer blog, SCEA’s head of marketing, John Koller said:

“Yes, we are working on further PSone additions to the PS Store and should see those launch shortly,”

Sweet hopefully we can get some Metal Gear Solid in English finally (yes I bought it in Japanese, i’m such a fanboy). Hopefully we’ll see some of these cooler games fairly soon.

It might have been obvious but it has been confirmed today that MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will be getting downloadable content aplenty. Here’s what the game’s producer, Nigel Kershaw, had to say in his recent post on the PlayStation Blog.

“We’ve got a pile of stuff waiting in the wings, and, you’ll be glad to know, a lot of it is free.”. There was a ton of free content for the original so it’s only right that there’s free stuff for the sequel. Also in the post Nigel says that the team is “going to try and give you something new to play with every week”. Once again that’s really cool especially if some of the content is free. Hit the jump for more.

There has been rumors that there’ll be a bigger expansion around Christmas time although this has yet to be confirmed. The game is out in a few weeks so it’s likely we’ll see some of this sooner rather than later.

Sony announced that Resistance 2 and it’s PSP prequel Resistance: Retribution will be compatilble with oneanother. It was announced at Sony’s TGS presser that the games would link together to form an unholy union of Insomniac shooters. Basically this compatability will allow gamers to ‘Infect Their PSP’ unlocking new characters and an alternative history story mode within R:R.

Also in PSP news. Sony announced a new feature called ‘PSP Plus. This feature will alow PSP owners to play their favourite games with a DualShock 3 controller (with vibration support). Plugging your PSP Slim or 3000 into your PS3 via USB will make this, rather cool feature, happen.

Some cool news coming out of Japan on the PSP front then, here’s hoping for some super cool PS3 news to follow this one up.
