Is this, extremely poor quality, video (above) the first look at Dead Rising 2. It was sort of confirmed a week or so ago in Famitsu and now we see this video emerge on YouTube. Here’s hoping this is real, it definitely looks it.

It’s one week until, arguably the biggest fighting franchise ever, Street Fighter returns to the shelves and already Capcom are talking downloadable content. Like many other fighting franchises that have hit the current generation of consoles downloadable content will be offered. Famitsu revealed earlier this week that Street Fighter IV would be getting downloadable content. Nice. What’s nicer is, some of it will be free. Continue reading

Bionic Commando Coming In May Too by Anthony Barlow

Another release here announcement, this time it’s Capcom’s turn. The, somewhat highly anticipated, remake of Bionic Commando is to be released this upcoming May. The game is to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360, in all territories, in the fifth month of 2009. It has been confirmed that the PC version will follow soon after. It looks cool, I hope it’s good, we could do with a cool, new Spider-Man game. I said it, but you were all thinking it.

Capcom Confirms No Run & Gun In Resi 5 by Anthony Barlow

Now maybe it’s just me, or, well me and Ad’s but is anyone else finding the Resident Evil 5 controls horrendous? After playing the demo of the game both of us feel that buying the game will be a waste of time because of the crappy control scheme. Our last hope would’ve been Capcom saying: “Yeah, we’ll add in run and gun controls” or something to that effect, when in fact they’ve done the opposite.

In a new community blog post Capcom have confirmed that no such controls will be added or patched into their upcoming survival horror action game.

“While RE5 is very action-heavy, the base RE game design mechanic of holding fast while shooting remains,” says the Capcom blog. Newcomers to the series may need to make some “mental readjustments,” but the controls have remained this way to establish a sense of risk and danger while in combat. The new controls will instead grant “more natural motion to the second analog stick on your 360 or PS3 controller,”

Whilst there might be strong arguments for both sides of the RE5 controls saga, I personally feel that a game like that, with that many enemies on screen, needs better controls.

Street Fighter IV, Resi 5 Invade Home by Anthony Barlow

It looks like Capcom have been hard at work giving the fans something cool in PlayStation Home. The Japanese developer are adding a slew of Street Fighter costumes into Sony’s social service as well as Resident Evil 5 costumes and an RE 5 themed game space. Little is known about these add-on’s as of yet, but i’m sure they’ll sell if they’re not overpriced (of course, the game space is free). I wonder if they’ll chuck in a zombie themed mini game? I hope so. More on this when we get the info.

More RE 5 news now and it has been revealed that the game, like many others, requires a massive install on the PlayStation 3. It comes as bad news for owners of the smaller HDD systems as the install weighs in at around 5 gigabytes. Not good. As far as I know the install is mandatory, hopefully it’ll pay off on the performance front.

More demo news here and now it’s Capcom’s turn to shine. The demo for Resident Evil 5 has now hit the PlayStation Store and is available to download. The demo contains two stages, both of which can be played in online and offline co-op. Nice. It weighs in at 942mb so you’ll need a fair bit of space to download it. Go download it anyway, it should be worth it. Impressions may follow.

SCEE Blocks Street Fighter II: THDR Release by Anthony Barlow

Super Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix has been one of the most anticipated games on the PlayStation Network and for some, rather daft, reason it didn’t get released in Europe at the same time as it did in North America. A few weeks back, Capcom answered the prayers of fans and announced a date for the game in European territories, but now Sony have stuck their oar in, seemingly for a damn good reason.

It has been revealed by Capcom UK’s Leo Tan that they had submitted the game to Sony twice and had been denied release  on both occasions, with Sony citing that the game had a number of problems and needed to be re-done. Capcom are now working on a new version of the game which will hopefully be available within three weeks.

I wonder why it was denied over here, but released fine in the US? Hopefully Sony know what they’re doing and that this delay will be good in the long term.

It has been announced today that PlayStation 3 owners can expect to see a demo on February 5th. The demo is said to incluide to levels of the game and will feature split-screen and online co-op modes. Definitely a good thing. Players will also be able to pick between Resident Evil 4 controls and the new “action” control scheme which is based off game like Gears Of War.

Sounds good. Another game I haven’t gotten my hands on yet so I should enjoy this.

Resident Evil 5 Getting ‘Special’ PS3 Too by Anthony Barlow

With the announcement that SEGA are giving the PS3 the Yakuza touch for an upcoming bundle, it seems that themed bundles (and consequently PS3’s) will be flooding the Japanese market in 2009. Today Sony have announced that they will are putting together a ‘special’ bundle (Japan only) for Biohazard 5 (Resident Evil 5). The package includes the game, a DualShock controller and an 80GB PS3 console. The console itself has the Biohazard 5 logo on it and the word ‘Biohazard’ on the disc slot.

Personally, if I had to choose one of the two recent ‘special’ PS3’s I think I’d go with the Yakuza one, but that’s just me. I’m sure RE (or Biohazard) fans will love this.

Ok so for our first BIG (and I mean big) rumor since we’ve returned is a pretty damn good one. Capcom’s John Diamonon hinted at something potentially cool. In his most recent post (which can be seen here) he writes:

Oh yeah, there’s also a big (sentence deleted by Capcom and SCEA PR ninjas)….Can you believe it? Wow, how can you not be excited about that? I’m just glad that I was finally able to talk about it. It’s been a long time coming but I’m ecstatic that it’s actually going to happen.

Now of course this actually means nothing, although when a commenter asked:

I must say that it is awesome that you announced Dead Rising for the PSN, right?

To which John replied:

Who announced it? Me? I don’t think so! )

Well, because of the smiley face the internet has exploded with speculation that Dead Rising is, in fact, finally going to be released on PS3 and possibly via the PlayStation Store. Hopefully this is true, i’ve been waiting to get my hands on that game for a while. come on Capcom do the right thing.

Okay, I might have been a week out but the Street Fighter themed costumes for LittleBigPlanet are making their way onto the PlayStation Store this Thursday for $5.99. The pack includes Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li and Zangeif.

Cool DLC, we definitely need more like this.

Street Fighter IV C.E. For Europe by Anthony Barlow

Capcom have confirmed that a collectors edition of Street Fighter IV will be hitting Europe on February 20th. It will contain limited edition action figures of Ryu and Crimson Viper, a feature length HD anime, a mini strategy guide and exlcusive downloadable content. So, if your a real SF nut then you’d be a fool not to spend that extra money on this.

There’s currently no indication on the pricing of the C.E. but i’m guessing it’ll be around £50-60.  There’s been no mention of a C.E. for North America, but i’m sure we can expect one of a similar nature.

Media Molecule have announced the new costumes coming to LittleBigPlanet in next week’s PlayStation Store update. They have announced that characters from Capcom’s Street Fighter series will be making appearances as costumes next week. It seems like the Capcom/Sony marketing machine is in full effect and personally…I like it.

Definitely a worthwile addition to the LBP universe. I’m still waiting on Old Snake though MM.

Resi 5 Demo Is Coming… by Anthony Barlow

To both 360 AND PS3. It had previosuly been thought that an upcoming demo of Resident Evil 5 would be coming exclusively to Xbox 360. This has now been clarified and it has been confirmed PS3 fans can expect to see the demo too. The demo had previously been confirmed for just Japan but it will be coming to European and North American users too.

The demo is scheduled for December 5th in Japan, but those of us in the West can expect to see it after that date. Could it be that it isn’t coming this year? No idea, we can still get it from Japan though.
