Yes, it’s late I know. You didn’t really expect the update to be on time did you? You did, well…fair enough. So yeah, for once in a long while BOTH of the PlayStation Store updates are late. Sorry. If you’re all amped up about me being late, for £6.29 you can calm yourselves down with Thatgamecompany’s Flower. Also this week sees the return of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, a new demo for Motorstorm 2 and some new paid-for content for LittleBigPlanet. Hit the jump for the full list. SOCOM Gets A European Release Date by Anthony Barlow

Slant 6’s SOCOM: Confrontation has finally been given a European release date. The question is…is anyone arsed? I think not. Those living in North America have been able to play the game since late last year. Although it looked promising at first, it didn’t live up to what it could’ve been and it’s ‘problematic’ release didn’t help either.

Either way, if you’re living in Europe and, even with the above comments and the less than impressive review scores (click here to to see Giancarlo’s verdict), you want to play it’s coming out on March 13th…and subsequently going up against Resident Evil 5. I guess it was going to flop anyway, releasing it then gives Sony an excuse.

The Killzone 2 demo is live! Oh yeah, there’s other stuff too. Europe can finally get a hold of Lumines: Supernova and Cuboid. Criterion have released the first bunch of paid-for downloadable content for Burnout: Paradise, we also see the release of NHL arcade and the usual weekly stuff from Rock Band & Guitar Hero. Home Events Space, Red Bull Leaderboards Creep Into European Homes by Anthony Barlow

Sony seem to have decided to stop announcing new things coming into PlayStation Home. We have been informed that yesterday a new update was released for the service, bringing with it the Home Events space and leaderboards for the Red Bull: Air Race Home space. Now if Sony had announced this, it might have got people to visit. Seems like bad marketing for a company that’s just lost $1 billion +. Either way they’re out, they’re pretty cool. Nothing special, just a new minigame and some leaderboards. Check it out though, it might just take your fancy.

I sorta neglected my writing responsibilities yesterday and forgot to post the updates, they’re here now at least. Starting with Europe. After a long wait those of us in European territories get to play Supersonic Areobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars. This week also sees the return of LittleBigPlanet DLC, some more (useless) DLC for Skate 2 and the PS3 exclusive Mirrors Edge time trial map, as well as the usual updates for Rock Band & Guitar Hero: WT. Hit the jump for a full list of content. Continue reading

Today, as you probably know by now, is Thursday, which means, well, two things. One, it’s the day before Friday and Two, it’s time for the European PlayStation Store update. Ok, after that rather long winded intro it’s time to tell you guys (and gals) what’s available for your downloading pleasure today. Well, there’s some new DLC for Shaun White Snowboarding, Magic Ball has been released and there’s a demo for Skate 2. Hit the jump for the full list. Continue reading

The first PlayStation Store update of 2009 is, sadly, pretty lacklustre. There’s the LOTR: Conquest demo which was on the North American store last time around. Other than that it’s mainly just add on content. There’s stuff there for EndWar and Naruto as well as the usual Rock Band and Guitar Hero content. There is a lack of LittleBigPlanet content this week, but i’m sure Media Molecule will make up for it with something good next week. Hit the jump for, the unusually small, list. Continue reading

It has been revealed today that those of us in Europe will in fact be getting a demo for Guerilla Games’ upcoming FPS Killzone 2. SCEE have said that the demo will be available in the “normal manner” via the PlayStation Store. This announcement seems to have quashed rumors of a similar pre-order scheme to the US heading to Europe. We’ve no idea when the demo will be released, but hopefully it’s before the game releases on February 27th.

It’s Christmas Eve people, and to celebrate Crimbo 2008 Sony have decided to give those of us in Europe something to smile about. We’ve got 2 brand new games (which I shall be reviewing in the new year), a PS1 classic and two new demos. Not only that SCEE have finally got their act together and given us some seasonal price drops as an added bonus. Oh you shouldn’t have, well , yeah…you should. Hit the jump for the full list of stuff. Continue reading

Not a bad update this week. Astro Tripper has finally been released, but still there’s no sign of Street Fighter. The usual DLC is here too with the addition of new stuff for EndWar. I think it’s the time of the year, some demos would be cool though. I wonder what the North American Store will have on offer?

  • Astro Tripper full game – £3.19
  • Puzzle Quest: Challenge of The Warlords full game – £15.99
  • Jet Rider 2 PS1 game – £3.99
  • Tom Clancy’s EndWar “Escalation Pack” – £7.99
  • LittleBigPlanet “Street Fighter” costume pack – £4.79 (or £1.59 each)
  • LittleBigPlanet “Santa costume part 1” – Free!
  • Rock Band DLC – Click Here
  • Guitar Hero World Tour DLC  – Nirvana Pack

Sony have launched the MyPSN service in Europe. Similar to Microsoft’s Xbox.com, MyPSN allows users to view their friends list and such when they’re away from the PS3 as well as allowing users to make their own ‘portable ID and view upcoming events. The service is going to be expanding though. The website states that the service will soon incorperate Sony’s trophy system which is nice as well as some other pretty cool features. Hit the jump for my ID to give those not in Europe (or those who can’t be arsed) a look at what to expect. Continue reading

Those of us in Europe had a minor update on Tuesday to coincide with the great update those in North America had. Sadly, our full update couldn’t really match that. Europe finally gets it’s hands on Capcom’s Pirate based RTS, Age Of Booty, in both full and trial form. We also got a demo for GTi Club+ as well as the regular stuff from LBP, Rock Band, GH:WT e.t.c. Hit the jump for the full list. Continue reading

Capcom’s pirate themed game Age Of Booty is hitting European shores on Thursday. The game has been out two weeks in North America and has been well recieved by critics and fans alike. The general concensus is that players should wait for the upcoming trophy patch, but if you’re not bothered about trophies go buy it.
