Various sources have been talking about a possible leak of what looks like the achievements for Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360. Now obviously this is a blog usually dedicated to all things Playstation related amongst other things but this is GTA news it has to get a post…whatever it is.

The full list of 50 achievements has popped up on ‘Xbox 360 Achievements’ hit the link for a full list but here’s a select few as to not totally ruin the possible surprise.

  • Warm Coffee’ – Successfully date a girl to be invited into her house.
  • ‘Let Sleeping Rockstars Die’ – Kill a developer in a ranked multiplayer match.

As i’ve said not the usual news put up on here but it’s GTA news which means anything goes. As i’ve said click here for what has been dubbed on the GameSpot forums as “The biggest spoiler warning ever”.

*Spoiler Alert* RSV2 Not As Good As Predecessor by Anthony Barlow

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 [PS3]

Yes the old adage of the sequel not being as good as the original almost inevitably returns with Ubisoft Montreal’s latest offering from the Tom Clancy/Rainbow Six franchise(s).

I played through this game, both in co-op and single player, and have come to the conclusion that these so called ‘tactical’ shooters are being dumbed down. Yes I know it’s a bit late, and yes I do admit about being really excited about this game but it is really noticeable here.

My fist major complaint is that the A.I. (intelligence my arse), for squad-mates and enemies, is seriously flawed. I’ll find myself walking through a door (if Jung and Michael aren’t in the way!) and capping three guys in the back of the head without any one of them noticing. This is a serious flaw in this game which makes it really easy, especially in co-op.

Secondly the ‘tactics’ in this game are similar to those of…well I don’t know something that requires no tactics at all, like “Deal Or No Deal”. Pick a door, snake cam, tag enemies, stack up, clear room and there you have it folks the guide to R6V2’s tactics from your host Barmelo.

My third major disappointment with this game is it’s storyline and locations. The storyline is strung together through a series of top corner info screens which do only one job, annoy the shit out of you. Using this method with a series of non cut scenes really does not explain this supposedly ‘engrossing’ storyline and leaves you wondering “was that it?” when the final act finishes. Locations were one of the best things in RSV just because of their variety and multiple routes to your objective. This game offers nearly none of that with a few nice daytime scenes but nothing in comparison to the first game. Another thing location wise is that none of the older locations from the first game have returned, at least not yet. I have seen some of the previous game’s online maps in ‘Terrorist Hunt’ but not in campaign. The nostalgia of ‘Calypso Casino’ and ‘LVU Campus’ cannot be re-experienced but i’m thinking that DLC will be a definite option for maps like these.

Graphically RSV2 is very much similar to the original with a few slight tweaks. The texture pop is terrible when starting an online co-op game and some of the environments seem very generic.

The new commands don’t seem to work either. The ability to have squad mates throw grenades really doesn’t do much as it doesn’t usually allow you to.

Overall this was very RSV.5 and not a true sequel. It seemed really rushed and generally a money grabber which hopefully doesn’t turn into Ubi’s cash-cow game. I’m hoping for a two year gap before a new showing from Team Rainbow so hopefully Ubisoft can iron out their flaws and create a true sequel to the brilliance that was Rainbow Six Vegas.

Checked the U.S. PS Store last night and what did I find; well a lot fucking more than on the UK store :). Rant over. Anyway I heard that singer/rapper/collaborator extraordinaire Wyclef Jean had used Burnout: Paradise (PS3 Version) in his new video for “Fast Car” which also features Paul Simon. Well the video looks great and all but the song is absolutley amazing, well I love it. It’s free so I recomend everyone at least give it a try. Not that much good to me, exept ‘Rock Band’ DLC, on the store, hey Sony a Demo would’ve been nice. The song is up for a ‘limited time’ so go, now, stop reading and download it!

This song is also available on Wyclef’s new album ‘The Carnival II: Memoirs Of An Immigrant’ which also features the single ‘Sweetest Girl’

Sony Mess It Up…not that new really by Anthony Barlow

Mechanic Yes well I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of new content to the Playstation Store yesterday and I found nothing. I’m so obsessive I even brought my PSP with me today so I could check via remote play. I have since found that sony have said

“Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday. We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted.”

Well like I said Sony messed up the European launch of one of their biggest titles (GT5: Prologue) but at least they admitted it…right?

Ryu Three images have been released from Capcom U.S. showing some of the in game character art from their upcoming downloadable release (PSN & XBL) Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix. The pics showing Ryu, Ken & Cammy were released on Tuesday and a post was put up here but the pics and gallery link were not included and due to technical complications (probably that I can’t work wordpress) i’ve had to delete that post and re-post this.

For the images of Ryu, Ken & Cammy click here

More Than “More Than A Feeling” by Anthony Barlow

Yes, some Rock Band news now. Whilst the last few weeks have been a bit crappy on the RB DLC front this week it gets a lot better. Boston, of ‘More Than A Feeling’ fame, have their own track pack available to download from the XBL, PSN and the ‘Rock Band Music Store’ on the consoles update days (Wed. XBL, Thurs. PSN)

The 6 track pack includes:

  • More Than A Feeling
  • Peace Of Mind
  • Smokin’
  • Rock & Roll Band
  • Something About You
  • Hitch A Ride

The best thing is all these tracks are masters so no bad cover band can ruin these. I’ll probably only be getting “More Than A Feeling” but i’ll check out the rest of ’em in the stores preview but it’ll probably just be the one. Might get the ‘Arguably Punk Pack’ too. Should make for some Rock Band goodness on my day off :).

The songs can be downloaded individually for $1.99 (160 MS Points) or $9.99 (800 MS Points) for the complete set.

GB=SP (Good Blogging = Smaller Posts) Amongst Other Things by Anthony Barlow

Little & LargeYes i’ve come to the conclusion that to make the blog the sucess I want it to be then some things will have to change. First of all, as the title says, to make the blog better the posts NEED to be smaller. I was looking over the last few ‘Corner’ posts and they’re way too long. I mean who gives a toss if anyones reading (I still hope people are) you don’t want to be reading masses of text to get to the point so more concise posts from now on. Secondly the posting needs to be more frequent and possibly the illusive ‘daily posts’ I keep mentioning need to be put into effect with most posts coming at around 4pm (college gets in the way of blogging) with the exception of Tuesdays when posts will come around this time (1-3pm) and then some will come possibly later on.

I hope I can make this work because, believe it or not, I quite like blogging and this should help the whole procedure from now on.

P.S. The picture is of classic British double act ‘Little & Large’ for all of you that don’t understand why the image is relevant :).

Yes, the last ‘corner’ was a bit lengthy but then I did have a lot to write about :). This post will sadly not be as long.

So i’m gonna kick it off with the gaming side of things. This week I finally finished Assasin’s Creed as well as Ratchet & Clank. I thought I might go after flags, Templars and the like on Ass. Creed but thought about the pain it might cause me and others so I think i’ll give that one a miss. However, Ratchet & Clank was really cool throughout and i might go and replay it on ‘Challenge Mode’ and get all of the secret stuff.

I tried and failed in my attempt to bother to complete Resistance before Rainbow Six Vegas 2 comes out. It’s just really annoying compared to all the other FPS games out there. Saying that I did play online a few nights ago and it was pretty cool, but I think it won’t carry on as the almighty Tom Clancy gets in the way again.

Other than that i’ve had a few brief stints on COD4 and FIFA 08 was not left out either as mine and Adails skills in ‘Be A Pro’ mode continue to shine.

No new tracks, that i’m bothered about anyway, for Rock Band again this week so I gave it a miss in favor of working my way through some of my single player games.

No co-op Army Of Two this week for XeNonX’s own Army Of Two (Me & Adails) but I did have a go in single player before and it’s not as fun but it’s till pretty cool.

(It’s lookin’ like another lengthy one).

Stepping away from games now and I was pleasantly surprised to see that South Park’s new season has started airing in the U.S. I caught the 1st episode and once again it stared out a bit slow but was really good and definitely must see TV. I’ve also been watching a bit of the second season of ‘Heroes’ this week moving on to the 5th episode now and it’s really beginning to heat up so loving that as well but that’s about it for the big and small screens for me.

Nothing else to report but will make sure to give my impressions of R6V2 next time and possibly Dark Sector it all depends on if I have enough trade credit to get the damn thing.

Well that’s it for this week from my personal brainbox will be posting a little more frequently hopefully but then again I said that last week. I’m possibly gonna try out a new format for this thing to make it a bit easier in the future.

So, catch ya later

Yes from now on you’ll probably be recieving my input on a daily basis in this section. Basically I just chat on about almost anything gaming related so i’ll kick this one off right now.

I’m going to kick off with what i’ve been playing over the last few weeks, which should really interest everyone. Well i’ve been trying to burn through a few of my incomplete games so I can focus on the next few months releases. Over the last few weeks i’ve finished Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and I really did like that one and hope they add another chapter because, for me, that was the PS3’s first big AAA title. Another game I finished was the stylistic John Woo created Stranglehold, now while it’s not that big of a title it certainly was good fun even if it was a bit shallow and repetetive a good shooter and should be easy to find cheap if you need something to play. I tried to burn through Assasins Creed the other day, and actually I got pretty far. Up to the 6th memory block now and pretty happy. The game is VERY repetetive but the ropey sci-fi story is what’s keeping me going and hopefully i’ll have finished it before Rainbow Six Vegas 2 comes out in a few weeks. I surprised myself with this latest entry but i’m really, and i mean really, enjoying playing Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction. I’m not much into platformers but this one is really cool: the story is great, the action is good, the weapons are cool and overall it’s a great game. I want to finish it but I think I might keep it and replay during the summer when nothing comes out! Obviously i’ve been playing FIFA 08 , as per usual, and I still love that game. Offline is sorta dying out for me now but online is still really good and playing alongside Ad’s in Be A Pro mode is really cool. I just wish more people had the game :(. So there was my week in review and I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I hated writing it, which surprisingly wasn’t a lot.

My first real subject for today is EA’s new squad based shooter Army Of Two. After a few months delay (hopefully for the good) the game is coming out this Friday in the UK for the PS3 and 360 and i’m hoping to grab a copy (PS3) on Thursday from my not so local import shop. It looks pretty cool and multiplayer online campaign seems like it should be great. I just hope it dosen’t turn out to be a re-skinned Kane & Lynch…god I hated that game. So i’ll probably give my opinions on Friday after giving it a good few hours tomorrow.

Rock Band, what a buy that game was. I imported this a few months back and what a choice I made, this game is the best game for multiplayer out now and with the DLC keeping coming the fun dosen’t stop. It’s just a shame I can only play guitar but oh well it’s great fun in multiplayer I just hope they add online Band World Tour in a patch.

Now it’s time for a bit of a PSP post. With Patapon out last week and God Of War: Chains Of Olympus coming soon the PSP is on a bit of an upswing I’m actually glad I’ve got one now. Will be ordering Patapon soon whilst it’s only £11.99 on movietyme and should get God Of War soon too but I might have to give the PS2 originals a rent first just to get some story down before playing God Of War III.

Well I know this post is getting on a bit but i’m moving on to TV land now and there’s a fair bit to report.

First of all Prison Break finished it’s short season last week and I actually thought that it was pretty cool. The latest episode was really good and I urge everyone to watch the other two seasons because they were really good too, even if season two did dip a little in the middle.

Secondly i’d like to say that i’m REALLY happy that Entourage has been comissioned for a 5th season. Some didn’t think it’d survive the strike but i’m glad that Vince and the guys are back for a 5th season and really hoping that the show keeps up to the previous seasons standards. That’s another show i’ve been trying to sell to the other guys on the forum but it’s had no takers so far…oh well.

Now I said i was going to add something about everything and I am. Basically i’m gonna have a bit of a promo for The Smiths and Morrissey. I know Ad thinks they’re crap (amongst other things) but I really like their work and want to make that known to the world. Anyone who checks out this blog should go and listen to ‘This Charming Man’ it’s got to be one of their best songs so go on check it out now!

So there we have it, my post for today. This will be a bit more organised soon with the weekly playing thing coming at the begining of the week and but the general format will be here daily. So it’s bye for now.

Oh that was slimy wasn’t it

Finish Line

Well i’ve been trying to decide for a while now (you can see by the lack of posts) what I should do with the blogs. I was thinking about using the old address and just renaming the blog but it didn’t work and plus this theme is cool…right? Anyway I will be keeping the old blog up (for some reason) but this is the new main blog and will keep you up to date with all the goings on at XeNonX and the XNX clan.
Barmelo’s corner (devils advocate) will be having it’s first post today, on what i’ve yet to decide but it’ll probably include something on Army Of Two, Rock Band and some other things…probably.
