Various sources have been talking about a possible leak of what looks like the achievements for Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360. Now obviously this is a blog usually dedicated to all things Playstation related amongst other things but this is GTA news it has to get a post…whatever it is.

The full list of 50 achievements has popped up on ‘Xbox 360 Achievements’ hit the link for a full list but here’s a select few as to not totally ruin the possible surprise.

  • Warm Coffee’ – Successfully date a girl to be invited into her house.
  • ‘Let Sleeping Rockstars Die’ – Kill a developer in a ranked multiplayer match.

As i’ve said not the usual news put up on here but it’s GTA news which means anything goes. As i’ve said click here for what has been dubbed on the GameSpot forums as “The biggest spoiler warning ever”.

*Spoiler Alert* RSV2 Not As Good As Predecessor by Anthony Barlow

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 [PS3]

Yes the old adage of the sequel not being as good as the original almost inevitably returns with Ubisoft Montreal’s latest offering from the Tom Clancy/Rainbow Six franchise(s).

I played through this game, both in co-op and single player, and have come to the conclusion that these so called ‘tactical’ shooters are being dumbed down. Yes I know it’s a bit late, and yes I do admit about being really excited about this game but it is really noticeable here.

My fist major complaint is that the A.I. (intelligence my arse), for squad-mates and enemies, is seriously flawed. I’ll find myself walking through a door (if Jung and Michael aren’t in the way!) and capping three guys in the back of the head without any one of them noticing. This is a serious flaw in this game which makes it really easy, especially in co-op.

Secondly the ‘tactics’ in this game are similar to those of…well I don’t know something that requires no tactics at all, like “Deal Or No Deal”. Pick a door, snake cam, tag enemies, stack up, clear room and there you have it folks the guide to R6V2’s tactics from your host Barmelo.

My third major disappointment with this game is it’s storyline and locations. The storyline is strung together through a series of top corner info screens which do only one job, annoy the shit out of you. Using this method with a series of non cut scenes really does not explain this supposedly ‘engrossing’ storyline and leaves you wondering “was that it?” when the final act finishes. Locations were one of the best things in RSV just because of their variety and multiple routes to your objective. This game offers nearly none of that with a few nice daytime scenes but nothing in comparison to the first game. Another thing location wise is that none of the older locations from the first game have returned, at least not yet. I have seen some of the previous game’s online maps in ‘Terrorist Hunt’ but not in campaign. The nostalgia of ‘Calypso Casino’ and ‘LVU Campus’ cannot be re-experienced but i’m thinking that DLC will be a definite option for maps like these.

Graphically RSV2 is very much similar to the original with a few slight tweaks. The texture pop is terrible when starting an online co-op game and some of the environments seem very generic.

The new commands don’t seem to work either. The ability to have squad mates throw grenades really doesn’t do much as it doesn’t usually allow you to.

Overall this was very RSV.5 and not a true sequel. It seemed really rushed and generally a money grabber which hopefully doesn’t turn into Ubi’s cash-cow game. I’m hoping for a two year gap before a new showing from Team Rainbow so hopefully Ubisoft can iron out their flaws and create a true sequel to the brilliance that was Rainbow Six Vegas.

Checked the U.S. PS Store last night and what did I find; well a lot fucking more than on the UK store :). Rant over. Anyway I heard that singer/rapper/collaborator extraordinaire Wyclef Jean had used Burnout: Paradise (PS3 Version) in his new video for “Fast Car” which also features Paul Simon. Well the video looks great and all but the song is absolutley amazing, well I love it. It’s free so I recomend everyone at least give it a try. Not that much good to me, exept ‘Rock Band’ DLC, on the store, hey Sony a Demo would’ve been nice. The song is up for a ‘limited time’ so go, now, stop reading and download it!

This song is also available on Wyclef’s new album ‘The Carnival II: Memoirs Of An Immigrant’ which also features the single ‘Sweetest Girl’

Mechanic Yes well I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of new content to the Playstation Store yesterday and I found nothing. I’m so obsessive I even brought my PSP with me today so I could check via remote play. I have since found that sony have said

“Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday. We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted.”

Well like I said Sony messed up the European launch of one of their biggest titles (GT5: Prologue) but at least they admitted it…right?

Ryu Three images have been released from Capcom U.S. showing some of the in game character art from their upcoming downloadable release (PSN & XBL) Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix. The pics showing Ryu, Ken & Cammy were released on Tuesday and a post was put up here but the pics and gallery link were not included and due to technical complications (probably that I can’t work wordpress) i’ve had to delete that post and re-post this.

For the images of Ryu, Ken & Cammy click here

More Than “More Than A Feeling” by Anthony Barlow

Yes, some Rock Band news now. Whilst the last few weeks have been a bit crappy on the RB DLC front this week it gets a lot better. Boston, of ‘More Than A Feeling’ fame, have their own track pack available to download from the XBL, PSN and the ‘Rock Band Music Store’ on the consoles update days (Wed. XBL, Thurs. PSN)

The 6 track pack includes:

  • More Than A Feeling
  • Peace Of Mind
  • Smokin’
  • Rock & Roll Band
  • Something About You
  • Hitch A Ride

The best thing is all these tracks are masters so no bad cover band can ruin these. I’ll probably only be getting “More Than A Feeling” but i’ll check out the rest of ’em in the stores preview but it’ll probably just be the one. Might get the ‘Arguably Punk Pack’ too. Should make for some Rock Band goodness on my day off :).

The songs can be downloaded individually for $1.99 (160 MS Points) or $9.99 (800 MS Points) for the complete set.

GB=SP (Good Blogging = Smaller Posts) Amongst Other Things by Anthony Barlow

Little & LargeYes i’ve come to the conclusion that to make the blog the sucess I want it to be then some things will have to change. First of all, as the title says, to make the blog better the posts NEED to be smaller. I was looking over the last few ‘Corner’ posts and they’re way too long. I mean who gives a toss if anyones reading (I still hope people are) you don’t want to be reading masses of text to get to the point so more concise posts from now on. Secondly the posting needs to be more frequent and possibly the illusive ‘daily posts’ I keep mentioning need to be put into effect with most posts coming at around 4pm (college gets in the way of blogging) with the exception of Tuesdays when posts will come around this time (1-3pm) and then some will come possibly later on.

I hope I can make this work because, believe it or not, I quite like blogging and this should help the whole procedure from now on.

P.S. The picture is of classic British double act ‘Little & Large’ for all of you that don’t understand why the image is relevant :).
