Our friends over at TheSixthAxis have heard on the good ol’ grapevine that Sony Cambridge are working on some new tracks for the critically acclaimed WipEout HD. The game is amazing already and new tracks can only make it better in my opinion. I hope this is true, it’ll give the die hard WipEout nuts something to be really excited about. However, I have to stress that is is a rumor for now. You know what they say, there’s no smoke without fire.

A small (9mb) update has hit WipEout HD this week. The update is a small fix for users experiencing crashes if they’ve got over a certain number of friends on their friends list. Not a big deal for most, but for all you popular people out there this should help.

Yes, the title is true. WipeOut HD’s online component is borked. If players have more than 50 friends on their PSN friends list then the online component will not work and a lot of the menu’s will hang. Not good. This has not been confirmed by any official source as of yet but PS3 Fanboy users and the guys over at TSA have both found this problem.

I’ll be downloading the game tomorrow and thankfully i’m really unpopular and only have 18 friends, whoot! no crashing for me.

Some NeoGaffers have been hard at work making a custom soundtrack for WipeOut HD. By all accounts the soundtrack to the game is great as it is but it’s nice to see a community coming together to make something really cool for a game, especially a soundtrack. Here’s what they had to say:

“We’re a bunch of NeoGAF posters who make electronic music. Some of us veterans, some of us amateurs, but we all share a passion for videogames and electronic music.”

I’m supplying a link but make sure you check out the full list of credits over at the Gaf.

It might only be £11.99 but this game seems to have a hell of a lot of trophies for us gamers to get. Although the game is a download only title it looks like Sony are treating it as a fully fledged retail game because, ulike other PSN games, it’s got a platinum. There seems to be all the regular trophy levels here from the super easy to the incredibly hard, oh and of course there’s some hidden ones too. Either way it’s a great addition to the game. Hit the jump for the list.

The wait is nearly over WipEout HD has a US release date of the 25th September. Priced at a somewhat reasonable $20 (UK to be priced £11.99) the game also boasts 1080p@60fps and Trophies (list to be released soon).

Like Anthony posted previously the UK/EU release date is still yet to be announced. Hopefully like the last few major PSN titles it will be released in other regions simultaneously. Full Details after the jump. Continue reading

Wipeout HD is one of my personal most wanted games from the PSN this year and today it’s been priced. Yeah that’s right it’s been given a price but no date. Anyway, I was shocked to find out that the game would be priced at £11.99 over here in the UK. Sweet!

I’ll definitely be picking this up now.
