Another Cover Change For EA? by Anthony Barlow

It looks like EA could have another problem with one of their sports covers. This time with one of the cover stars on the North American version of FIFA 09 (image above).

The cover star in question is young up and coming USA and Toronto FC player Maurice Edu. XeNonX has learnt that there is some speculation about Edu’s future and that it is possible that the player could transfer to Scottish team Glasgow Rangers (for a fee of around £2.5m if anyone’s interested). More after the jump.

Here’s a story that BBC Sport’s Football gossip column has picked up from various sources.

Rangers manager Walter Smith is also ready to make a £2.5m move for USA international Maurice Edu, who played with Toronto FC last season. (Various)

Edu currently is sporting the Toronto FC strip on the FIFA cover which puts EA in somewhat of a pickle. Does this mean that there will be an adapted cover announced for the game if the transfer does go through? or will it be a similar case to that of Madden’s with a print your own thing.

Obviously this isn’t confirmation, but it would be interesting and quite funny for lightning to strike twice for EA. Not so funny for footy fans accross the pond though.

More on this when we get it. I will try and contact EA for comment.
