Now this is a little unexpected. It seems that, music legend, Roy Orbison will be making his way into Rock Band/Rock Band 2. CMT (Country Music Television) have let it slip, when advertising their Boxing Day show ‘Top 20 Countdown’, that, well, here’s the quote.

“Plus, get details on how you can rock out with The Soul of Rock and Roll with the upcoming release of the Roy Orbison Pack for Rock Band 2 consoles”.

There is a pretty big Rock Band ad next to the piece and seeing as CMT is an MTV channnel and MTV games publish Rock Band, this seems pretty likely. Unexpected, but there’s a possibility of awesomeness. Bring on ‘I Drove All Night’!

Harmonix answered many a prayer last week, announcing that Rock Band players can have some classic No Doubt to rock out too, next week…not so much. Harmonix announced a few weeks back that there was a Country music themed pack coming to their game, but I don’t think it’s what people expected.

I’m a big fan of guys like Johnny Cash (and on occasion Kenny Rogers), so I was expecting something pretty damn good, I am bitterly dissapointed. Hit the jump to find out why. Continue reading

The first question that entered my head upon hearing what was going to be available for Rock Band next week was “What the hell is up with Harmonix?”. It seems like they might, hopefully for one week only, be aiming for a younger/more emo audience. You’ll see what I mean when you hit the jump. Continue reading

Earlier this week Activision announced that fans would be able to purchase a 3-pack of songs by Las Vegas based band, The Killers. However, they never said it was an exclusive deal. It has also been revealed that Harmonix too have a deal with Brandon Flowers’ band. Hit the jump for more. Continue reading

Earlier this week it was announced by MTV that there would be a new music game, developed by Harmonix, starring The Beatles. There were not so many details revealed (apart from a tentative ‘Holiday 2009’ release date). Today it has been revealed that the game will contain 45 songs from the band’s EMI catalog (1961 – 1969). We have also been told that George Martin and his son Giles will be overseeing the transfer of the songs to the new format.

I still think this is a shame that it’s not an AC/DC style track pack (or downloadable) but i’m still excited. Bring on Sgt. Pepper!

The rumor mill hasn’t been as active as it usually is but it looks like it might be back in full force. EA’s external PR partners might have let slip the release window for the PS3 version of Rock Band 2 in Europe. We already know, through advertisments, that the game is coming to European 360’s in November. Could it be that the rest of the releases are coming a month later? It looks like that the case. Hit the jump for more. Continue reading

Steven Totilo, from MTV’s Multiplayer Blog, got his hands on with Sony’s forthcoming PS3 ‘Chatpad’ equivalent. Steven did say that he had no trouble using the pad to type, which is a good thing. The device is expected to ship in November and after hearing this news it’s something I definitely want to pick up now.

This should make replying to noobish messages a hell of a lot easier 🙂 .
