A recent post on the PlayStation blog has given us PS3 owners a heads up on what to expect DLC-wise for LittleBigPlanet. SCEA Marketing Manager, Mark Valledor, wrote a number of items that will be of interest to the LBP community. Hit the jump for more.

As of next week DLC for LittleBigPlanet will be appearing on the North American PS Store. Sweet. Costumes are first on the agenda with the promised free (‘limited time only’) DLC (Spacesuit & Pumpkin) being put out as well as, what Sony are calling, “Premium Costumes” ($1.99 each). These will more than likely be costumes based on video game licenses and the first of these premium cozzies will be Old Snake and Sephiroth. Double sweet. Mark went on to talk about the community costumes that were submitted in ‘LittleBigChallenge 003’. These cosrtumes will be appearing for free on the PlayStation Store and we presume they’ll be pretty frequent.

Before you get premium you get regular and this is the same for costumes too. ‘Sackboy Costumes’ will be available on the PS Store for $0.99 and will be “available in a variety of styles and designs”. Mark provided us with a sneek peek at what MM have in the works in this department.

‘Rare’ costumes were also on the agenda. These costumes will be available for a certain period of time and will be considered collectors items. The, now rare, MM T-Shirt was used as an example. Mark said they’re waiting for the right time to put this on the store (read: it’s not ready yet).

Costume bundles were also mentioned. Regular bundles will cost $2.99 with premium bundles costing $5.99. I assume these packs will be themed which is nice. An MGS themed pack would be a must buy for me 🙂 .

We were left with this rather vague closing comment:

“Stay tuned in a few weeks when we introduce a few more types of LBP DLC that will not only enhance your SackBoy, but expand your Pop-it tool with more objects, materials, stickers, sounds, music and even gameplay enhancements to keep the community refreshed with more creative options.”

Looks like we’ll be shelling out a fair bit for all this DLC. How exciting. Stay tuned there’s more to be announced next week. The first bit of content hits next week. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again…sweet.

Fancy some FIFA m8? Can’t play later as I’m off to the Trafford Centre to watch QoS. 🙂
