As you may or may not know, on September 19th Sony are releasing the ‘PlayTV’ Boxin Europe. The box is basically a DVR for your PS3, the gamers TiVo if you will.

It was revealed that PlayTV would permit any recorded files to be transferred to the PSP or PC for viewing pleasure without any restrictions what so ever. Beautiful. It was a really awesome idea, until Sony announced that they had axed the whole “No Restrictions” and said TV shows could only be played on the Playstation 3 but could still be played through the PSP through Remote Play. Not so beautiful.

Now that the games press have a hold of the device, it seems as though Sony has stuck to its first proposal. You can put any of your TV shows recorded on the PlayTV on to your PSP. Rejoice! PlayTV seems definitely worth it. At £69.99, if you’re an active PSP user and are always on the go, or just love the idea of a PS3 DVR combo, then it seems like a great buy.
