Laugh if you will, but even with all the major AAA titles coming out on the PS3 this year it is EA Sports’ ‘FIFA 09’ that I am looking forward to most. I was hoping that EA would implement the PS3’s new trophy system into their footy sim, sadly that isn’t the case. Hit the jump to find out why.

Over on the FIFA 09 message boards an EA UK community representative (known only as Adroit) has commented on a discussion about the PS3 version of FIFA 09’s trophy situation. He said:

Unfortunately FIFA 09 on the PS3 will not feature trophies or custom soundtracks due to the 2.4 firmware being introduced too late in the development cycle.

It’d be nice to see it patched in but it’s very unlikely. I can’t wait for Sony to make trophies mandatory next year, I love trophies. This has not made me think twice about picking up the game it’s the best footy game on the market and you definitely get your money’s worth.

Yeh I think SONY are stupid not to implement trophies on all their games. Theses extra type of achievements extend the game play of all games, you only need look at XBOX 360 success. If SONY want to compete with MICROSOFT, they must put trophy achievements on all new release in the future. Also looking into trophy updates for pre released games if possible to.

Hey dude, just thought i’d tell you that when FIFA 09 was released it was up to the developer/publisher to decide if trophies were to be implemented. From January onwards trophies are mandatory in all new games.
