EA have just let us know that the recently delayed Godfather II game will now be released in April. The game was originally set to release around the end of this month, but was delayed in order to give the game more of a push marketing-wise. With all of the other massive titles coming out at that time (Killzone 2, Steet Fighter IV e.t.c.), I think the game might have been missed by many. I think an April release will help the game a hell of a lot, good business decision from EA there.

Remember those screens we posted a little while back showing a Paradise City Police Car? Sure you do. Well, Criterion have announced today that a new ‘Cops & Robbers’ mode is coming for Burnout: Paradise.
According to the “Criterion Games Network” (viewable on the PS3 and PC versions),this DLC will arrive after all of the other previously announced packs (excluding the island). It’s apparently “dedicated to bringing the thrills and spills of cops and robbers car chases in Paradise City.”. Sounds good, hopefully we’ll get more info soon. Nice job guys.

After about, well, almost forever Axl Rose finally released, the highly anticipated album, Chinese Democracy. And this spring you’ll be able to play it in Rock Band. GNR already have one of their latest tracks in the game, ‘Shacklers Revenge’, but now you’ll be able to play it in all of it’s…mediocrity. Ok I don’t like it, but for those who do it’s there. Enjoy.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was announced earlier this week by EA and now there’s been a screen shot released too. Seriously EA, who releases a single screenshot? It looks nice though.

For those who didn’t know, Pearl Jam’s album Ten is coming to Rock Band next month and you might just get more if Best Buy have anything to do with it. An offer from the american big box retailer has surfaced which says that those who pre-order the re-release of the album, due out March 24th, will get a code for three more Pearl Jam tracks for Rock Band. Those tracks are:
- Brother
- Alive (Drop In The Park Concert Version)
- State Of Love And Trust (Drop In The Park Concert Version)
So it looks like Pearl Jam fans might be forced to pick the album up if they want as much Pearl Jam as they can get. There’s no indication if these tracks will be coming for a price, but I suspect they will do at some point. Either way, if you want them early pre-order the remaster of Ten.

As Ad’s kindly commented before EA have delayed the release of The Godfather II. The game was slated for release towards the end of the month, but has now been pushed back to the April-June time frame. EA’s John Riccitiello has said that he felt the game needed more of a marketing push and that EA needed to generate more excitement for the game. Marketing wasn’t the only fault though, Riccitiello also blamed the 2008 ‘holiday’ season, saying:
“To be honest with you, we looked at the title, title feels very solid It will appeal to its audience well and it was likely to ship, as we had originally planned it, into a very cluttered, price reduced excess inventory channel both in North America and Europe in a heavy competitive environment. We didn’t think it would get its best shot at success in [fiscal] Q4.”
Either way the game does look good. Although, I do recall that the game was meant to ship around the same time as Killzone 2. Could this have something to do with the delay? I’m guessing we’ll never know.

EA made one hell of an announcement yesterday. It had been rumored for a while that the sequel to BioWare’s RPG Mass Effect would make it’s way onto the PS3 and EA have now confirmed this, to the delight of many a PS3 owner. The game was announced at the most recent of EA’s financial earnings calls. Also announced was the sequel to the extremely popular first person shooter Battlefield: Bad Company. Not bad, not bad at all. Not too much else to report. There’s no word about a possible port of the original Mass Effect to the PS3, but I think we can expect it. Especially with a 360 game of the year edition around the corner. The games have been given no formal release date but, according to EA’s John Riccitiello the games will be out before Q4 2010.

It looks like the Paradise City police have finally caught on to all the racing that goes in in the city they’re supposed to “protect and serve”. Some footage has appeared on the internet presumably showing a police chase of sorts occuring within Paradise City, leading people to suggest that ‘Pursuit Mode’ will be coming back to Burnout via a patch or DLC. You can see that the something regarding police appeared on the Burnout store in the ‘Ultimate Box’ trailer (see the gallery at the bottom of this post) as well as images of a cop car, one of which tops this post.
It’s Friday “i’m in love”, so maybe we’ll get the skinny from Criterion today. Sounds good though, if what’s being said is right I hope we see it soon.

Criterion have finally let loose the full details for the upcoming patch for Burnout: Paradise. Even though the guys are moving into the realms of paid-for DLC they still like to help us fans out by giving us a nice chunk of free stuff too. For starters there will be a restart race function if you lose, new trophies for the three new packs as well as some gameplay and visual tweaks. Hit the jump for the lowdown. (more…)

Being a dedicated Sony guy, I never played the original Mass Effect and I’m pretty bummed having not. There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel thouh. Secondstorygamer has a nice little bit of ‘news’ on Mass Effect coming to PS3. I personally thought the suseqent sequels would appear on the PS3 due to EA’s purchase of BioWare last year and looking at this rumor it seems this could be the case. Not only that SSG’s source also apparently said it was “likely” that EA would port the original game to allow PS3 owners who didn’t play the first (like me) a chance to catch up on the story of the games. This is apparently going to be announced at GDC (which starts 23rd March). Here’s hoping it’s true this is something else that could even the odds in terms of the PS3 vs. 360.

Friday, more often than not, is Criterion day and they rarely have nothing of interest to talk about. Today they have announced that the Party Pack DLC, announced last year, will be coming on the 5th February. Not only will it add to the game modes, it’ll also (hopefully) add to your trophy collection. Always something I like to hear.
The guys also announced that the Ultimate Box version of the game would be coming to Europe as well as North America. That will be released on February 6th and will feature all of the updates and DLC thus far.
More Criterion news and they’ve also announced that an upcoming free patch will be avaialble soon. This patch will allow players to access an in-game store and website. There’s changes to the game modes, visuals, car dynamics and as they so coyly put it “Oh yeah we’ve added a restart !”.
Nice of Criterion to give us stuff, both free and paid-for. Will be awaiting the Party Pack for some easy trophies and the new patch sounds really good. Good ol’ Criterion we loves ya.

It loooks like another zombie based ‘360 exclusive’ could be making it’s way to PS3. A forum poster on N4G.com has gotten himself a ‘pre-order card’ (seen here) from American retailer Best Buy for the game on PS3. Of course this isn’t confirmation, but with the ammount of rumor (and demand) for the game how can this not be being made or in Valve’s plans? Come on Valve ship it out to EA and have done with it, us PS3 owners NEED this game.
Best Buy was seen advertising Final Fantasy VII on PS3 though, so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Just thought i’d give all the people getting Skate 2 a heads up that the PS3 version it requires a 2 gigabyte install. So if you’re running out of room it might be time to delete some of that old game data.
