The first piece of BioShock ‘exclusive’ downloadable content is coming to the PS Store on November 20th. 2K’s erie underwater shooter BioShock recently got released on Sony’s console to much acclaim. This DLC was announced shortly before the game was announced and, although they could have included these on the disc, I think it’s great 2K want to support the PS3 with these ‘rooms’. Hit the jump for the details. (more…)

It looks like BioShock’s ‘exclusive’ downloadable content is getting it’s own set of Trophies. A PS3Fanboy tipster has sent in the list, which includes all but one of the trophies that gamers will be able to enjoy when the DLC gets released next month. Hit the jump for the list. (more…)

2K have announced that the PS3 version of BioShock will be getting it’s own exclusive downloadable content in November. The DLC in question will come in the form of ‘Challenge Rooms’. Which will include various puzzles, tasks and whatnot set in the undersea world of Rapture.
The DLC is coming on November 20th, there has yet to be a price announced for the game but I doubt it’ll be too much.

2K are going to issue a patch to fix some of the graphical issues people are seeing in the PS3 port of BioShock. Today they detailed said patch revealing two of the things that would be fixed by the update. One of 2K’s communty managers, going by the name 2K Elizibeth, posted this partial list on the official BioShock forums today:
- Fix for an issue where large blocky pixels would show up whenever viewing the Bouncer and Elite Bouncer variants of the Big Daddy.
- Fix for an issue where white/discolored bars would show up at the right and bottom sides of the screen during the plane crash / water scene at the beginning of the game.
There are some other problems that are going to be fixed and, although there’s no ETA on this patch yet, we expect it in the coming weeks.

As a follow up to Ryan’s post concerning some questionable graphics in the PS3 port of Bioshock, 2K have moved quickly to put the minds of owners of Sony’s console at rest by issuing the following statement to members of their official forums
Hey guys,
First, I want to thank you for the acute attention to detail and the Spartan level of expectation our most devoted BioShock fans hold us to, and how excited you are and attentive to the BioShock PS3 demo. When we saw a post asking about issues found in the demo, we jumped on it immediately. And you know what, you’re right. The texture in the PS3 demo of the downed Big Daddy does not match our level of quality either. This slipped by. We admit it. However, I want to assure you that this is an exception, and not a rule, and while I regret this oversight, we put a lot of love into making this game look amazing for the PS3 and I’m sure that when you play the rest of the demo you will agree that the textures are not all like this one instance.
As for the other issues and concerns, we are currently diligently working to replicate any bugs, and will report back to you with what we find. Thank you for your vigilance here and moving forward.
Isolated incident or widespread problem with the game? Bioshock is a thoroughly enjoyable title and one that PS3 owners who’ve never experienced before should definitely check out, regardless of the odd dodgy texture.

The Incredible Bioshock is being ported to the Ps3. We know this. But it should have a graphical overhaul right? RIGHT? Well, recent screen shots beg to differ. Don’t believe it? Hit the jump and see for yourself. It just doesn’t make sense. (more…)

For all of you PS3 owning gamers that never got the chance to play the ridiculously well made Bioshock, the wait is over. The game has finally gone gold, and is now being manufactured. Honestly, I don’t care if its not your type of game, you’re going to play it, and you’re going to love it. And the fact that this one has trophy support, and an extra mode compared to the Xbox 360? If you own a PS3 and don’t buy this, just set your damn console on fire. It’s going to waste. It comes out on the 24th in the UK and the 21st in the US. Buy it.

Word comes in from Cult Of Rapture that us PS3 owners will be getting a demo of BioShock. The demo, coming over PSN, is going to drop on the 2nd of October. I have no idea if this is worldwide or if we’ll have to resort to downloading the demo from the U.S. (like I had to with FIFA last night).
This means I, like many others, will be able to experience the game for the first time before the game releases in late October.

I’m really looking forward to BioShock coming to the PS3, but this latest announcement (curtosey of Dtoid) has put me off a little. The game features an install. No big deal right? Wrong. The install is 5GB, a pretty hefty install especially for someone with only 7GB of space left on his PS3’s HDD.
I personally don’t mind installs, but when they’re this big I wish I could opt out. A new HDD was a must buy anyway, looks like I’ve been set a date now.

2K Games today confirmed Bioshock will hit store shelves on the October 21st in the States and on the 24th for everyone else. Shipping with trophy support and exclusive PS3 downloadable content, now there’s something we don’t hear very often.

Sweet. News comes from the interwebs (IGN inparticular) that the PS3 version of BioShock looks better. IGN have said that the ‘port’ of the popular 360 game has “cleaner high resolution textures for every facet of the game”. Sounds nice. I’m really looking forward to getting this game as i’ve never played it. The new PS3 trailer makes it seem like an FPS, Survival Horror mash up. Am I right?
Anyway i’ve got mine pre-ordered and can’t wait to play it. Plus it’s got trophies, cool.
You can see the new trailer here along with a preview from IGN’s Jeff Haynes.

I personally thought that the PS3’s trophies for BioShock would be straight ports of the 360’s achivements. Not so says Tyann Wales. Wales revealed two of the games exclusive gold trophies for the PS3 version. The trophies which could apparently be unlocked simulateously. Said trophies are ‘A Man Chooses’ which will be unlocked for beating the game on ‘Survivor’ mode and ‘I Choose The Impossible’ which is the same with vita chambers turned off.
It actually looked like 2K are actually interested in making this game more than just a port. I have never played the game so it’ll be great for me.

The BioShock boxart I talked about a few weeks back must have just been a placeholder because now 2K have released a shot of the new boxart for the PS3 port of the game (obviously above). It’s not dissimilar to the original as it’s still a dark underwater shot of a Big Daddy but this time he’s accompanied by a Little Sister. The ‘Home’ logo is now nowhere to be seen but it is confirmed that the game will launch with trophies.
Cool. It makes no difference to me, all wanna do is play the game. I guess there might be some die hard BioShock fanboys out there clamouring for some new box art.

According to Sony’s Playstation Blog, the ‘port’ of BioShock to the PS3 is not a straight port after all. The blog hints that 2K’s masterpiece will be more than just a port.
“On top of that, because this is the first PS3 title from 2K Marin, 2K Australia and 2K Boston, we’ve also got another development partner with some outstanding PS3-specific coding chops helping out with the project — we can’t talk about what studio that is yet, but we look forward to revealing that in the future… The Boston team is the largest chunk of the BioShock team at the moment; many of them hard at work on some of the as-yet-unannounced components of the PS3 version. I can mention the work of one Boston team member, Ian Bond, who has been optimizing and refactoring the physics simulation for the game to take the maximum advantage of the PS3 hardware.”
I was definitely picking this up anyway but BioShock fanboys out there might just want to get this one too for these “components”. On top of that 2K have released a screenshot (top of post) of the game apparently running on PS3, although you can never be too sure *cough* Gametrailers *cough*
It has been one of the major things PS3 users have wanted since the console launched and now we’ve almost got it. Gaming Age posted yesterday that the long awaited in game XMB will be featured in the latest PS3 firmware 2.40. This firmware will apparently be released “sometime in June”. I’m guessing the 12th.
As well as this report a video has surfaced on YouTube apparently of this feature working. Not only that but it is an apparent leak from 2K Games the developers of BioShock. The video clearly shows the XMB over the BioShock start screen with the person clicking on a disc icon on the XMB which returns him/her to the game.
Gaming Age have stated that the update will feature universal friends lists and in-game messaging along with “surprises”. I personally have wanted custom soundtracks for a while now so I’m hoping they’re in.
The video is at the top of this page, go ahead take a look.
