As, well, probably none of you will know, I am not a full time ‘video games journalist’. I am a college student and this occasionally gets in the way of things such as writing for the site. For the past three months i’ve been working on the above video. I, with my fellow cohorts, have been working pretty much none stop to make sure this video makes it out before the deadline (10:30 Friday 12th December). This has lead to some setbacks in the amount of news and features on the site, for that I apologize. I do hope you recognize why I have had to put this project first, but also want to say that XeNonX has my full attention from here on out.
I realise by now that most of the people reading this think i’m either a wuss or full of shit. I’ll leave it for you do decide, but whilst you do, why not stick on the video and well…I don’t know, do something I guess.

Pioneer have announced that the new 400GB blu-ray disc they’ve developed will work in current players. It was feared that the 16 layer disc would require a new kind of disc drive, thankfully that isn’t the case. The discs won’t be available until 2010, just in time for Kojima to take advantage of it.

Seems that EA’s survival horror game is coming ahead of time. October 14th is the release date for this gore-filled terror machine. This game already has bans on it in Germany, Japan, and China so this one isn’t going to be for the faint of heart. For those of you like myself who love a good scare and are willing to put up with all of the blood and guts, or enjoy destroying limbs and organs alike, look for more on this one in the near future.
Oh sh*t.
The Smiths – Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now
Yep this musical performance by one of Manchester’s finest, The Smiths, reflects the day i’ve had without any sort of home console to play. Not only that I can’t watch movies because I used my PS3 for that too. Yep so to sum up today, my first day in nearly a year, without my good ol’ PS3 i’ve chosen ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’. Something nice and cheery to kick off the weekend.
Good news is I can back up my data and the like with the help of my cousin, his PS3 and an external HDD so that helps. Still this musical performance really does set the mood.
Yeah so it’s only seven little days until I, like many others, get my hands on GTA. I’m back in college in college now so postings will be a little less frequent but as the week ticks down i’ll try and post daily. So let me recap the last two days.

Back in college today after a very nice break. After spending a few meager hours doing work in college I was off back home ready to chill out and as per usual play some games. Was more than looking forward to playing the MGSO Beta but as it was postponed I played some Euro 2008 online. Which, although it was a little laggy, was really good even if I did get beat in every game. Didn’t do much as I was really knackered I did watch some of the 1st season of ‘Lost’ but that was about it.

Now for today. Well at this precise moment i’m sat in college and meant to be working and listening to Lupe Fiasco (one of the few rappers I like). Started to read books because I’m so bored of the wait between now and next Tuesday. Currently reading ‘I Am Legend’ by Richard Matheson. Reading seems to pass the time quite well. Feeling I should have brought my PSP and used remote play to play some Pixel Junk Monsters. I’ll probably play some Euro 2008 and finish off the 1st disc of ‘Lost’ season 1 tonight.
That’s it for now. I really can’t wait for GTA now. I should have my two copies on Tuesday and will be sending someone out on an errand to take one to be traded in. Got to pay for my special edition tomorrow (£69.99) and my standard one on Sunday (£36.99). I’m paying a lot of money but it’s worth it really as I’ll probably get about £30 back when I trade a copy in anyway.

Yeah the GTa countdown is coming to a close and we only have 9 more days to wait! Expect the news to come flooding in over the next week but for now i’ll give you an update on what i’ve been doing in this GTA Countdown triple-header.

Not much to report today. Played some Rock Band and Euro 2008 but not much gaming today been finishing some work off for college watched some movies but like I said the downhill slide has begun.

Saturday was ok me and a mate were playing some Euro 2008 in the new ‘Captain Your Country’ mode which was really sweet and will definitely be one of the modes i’ll be playing more often. Rock Band also provided some footy downtime but Euro 2008 seems to be my game of choice at the moment.

Been catching up with my podcasts today (GameScoop & 1Up Yours). Other than that been working for college again. Taking a break and have been playing a little Euro 2008 but i’m playing Super Stardust HD. Got my Konami iD/Game iD for MGS Online so will be playing that tomorrow.

The best gaming day (for me at least) between now and GTA with a whole host of crazy crap to play I don’t know how i’m gonna get to write about it all, but I will.
First up. I checked the, newly updated, PS Store today and found some nice new content for some of my favorite games. We got a new add-on pack for Warhawk (as did the U.S.). Operation Broken Mirror launched today and although i’m yet to download it (lack of funds) but will do as Warhawk is cool and new content is always good. Alongside that both the EU and US got a new add-on pack for Super Stardust HD which adds some cool features but is another one i’m yet to download. For the full list from both stores check out my new feature to be announced shortly.
Today’s best new content is the MGS Online BETA which hit the EU store for free and for anyone, unlike the US. After finding that a rather slow downloading patch was needed I set it aside for later on (it’s just finished now) and played Euro 2008.
Yep I finished Dark Sector last night around midnight (as was said in last night’s/yesterday morning’s post) and took it back to my not so local gaming outlet where, after a few hours of waiting for a delivery, I picked up UEFA Euro 2008 on the PS3. I’m having an awesome time with it so far and will be posting my early impressions soon. This will definitely tide me over until GTA for which i’m extremely happy as I have run out of dosh, but will have it for the release of GTA.
So guys, the possible pinacle of the wait comes on the 12th day. Is it all downhill from here? Can I survive without spending until May? All will be reveled soon enough, but for now this is the XeNonX GTA Countdown for 17th April 2008, I’ve been Barmelo and I’m out.
Unlucky 13, Unlucky 13 usually not too good but today was once again pretty cool. I think the boredom may have surpassed but the hype as gone into overdrive. I can’t wait for GTA and especially as I can now pay for both my copies.
Anyway today I went and stuck my pre-order down on Euro 2008 and wandered aimlessly around Warrington town centre trying to resist the temptation to buy some cheap DVD’s. Needless to say, I didn’t and here’s what i picked up:

I DID finally finish Dark Sector today about half an hour before this post and will be taking it back to the shop tomorrow and exchange it for Euro 2008. That should be pretty sweet tomorrow. Shame i’ve only got four more days holiday before going back to college though

By the way the GTA countdown will be up the day after the events (i.e. 16th going up on 17th e.t.c.)

The GTA hype seems to be ramping up now as we’re only two weeks away from launch. Not so boring and mundane as the last few posts today, which is a surprise. I went out and spent the day looking over the fine wares of the Trafford Centre and managed to grab myself some stuff and some dinner. Got home about 4-ish and began once again on the road to finishing Dark Sector. I’m really getting into it now, just hope I can finish it for Thursday so I can take it back and get UEFA Euro 2008 which, after looking at IGN UK’s review, looks like it could be some good, albeit casual, fun before GTA comes out.
Well after a few hours with Dark Sector I began checking good ol’ eBay and found i’d sold my copies of TimeShift (£15), Army Of Two (£30) and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (£30) which made my day really having had about £40 to my name just hours before I now found I could not only afford the two copies of GTA but also have £30+ over, result!
After finding i’d come into a little cash I went and bought ‘I Am Legend’ on Blu-Ray from Amazon (US) so hopefully that should show up soon.
Overall it’s not been a bad day. Just hope to god I can get Dark Sector done tomorrow if not it might be another for eBay.
There we have it another day and a fair few quid to show for it. This must have been the best day of the rather boring wait for GTA IV…god I can’t wait. Two weeks baby, two weeks!
I went all Ari Gold at the end there.
By the way I know it’s technically the 16th now but give a guy a break, eh?

Sorry for the delay on the GTA Countdown. I didn’t post yesterday as I was buys watching Man United beat Arsenal 2-1 (get in!) and unusually I passed out shortly after 10pm. Anyway here’s the GTA Countdown for the past two days.

Not much to report really. I played Dark Sector for a while before giving up because I was dying so much (damn shield guys!) other than that, as I said before, I watched a slightly sloppy Manchester United side beat Arsenal 2-1. After that I played a bit of FIFA 08 and Rock Band before going downstairs to watch ‘Chuck’ on Virgin 1 passing out on the couch just as the opening titles began to roll. So there you have it, a more exciting day overall but I really am doing absolutely nothing before GTA arrives.

I needed to distract myself this morning so got up early (9am) and went to the gym. I got home about 11:30 and once again tried my hand at Dark Sector, which I aim to complete before Thursday. I got past another chapter but quit shortly after starting the next one. Not much else going on today i’ll probably watch some Entourage and some blu-rays. Might pick up ‘I Am Legend’ on blu-ray but other than that nothing.
Another day, another post on the XeNonX Blog’s GTA IV countdown. So today was quite boring actually. I got up late, had missed my bus to town and decided well “I can’t be arsed”. I tried to get through a bit more of the extremely engrossing ‘Dark Sector’ before moving onto the more casual ‘Pixel Junk Monsters’ switching between that and ol’ faithful ‘FIFA 08′.
You know the old saying, “Good things come to those who wait” well GTA better be absolutely mind-blowingly good otherwise I will shoot whoever said that. All jokes aside this wait has gone on too long and my ammount of boredom is rising with every passing moment. Sure games like ‘Dark Sector’ pass a couple of hours but generally today has been rather mundain and boring once again. Oh well.
*Announcer Voice* In other news. I found that i’ll only be able to buy both of my copies of GTA if I don’t spend another penny between now and when I have to pay for them and i’ll still have to borrow £20. “You shouldn’t have ordered two then should you, you’re crazy! hear you cry. Well I could’ve just ordered the one but i’m obsessive and NEED the special edition and I can’t wait a few measly days (sad, I know).
Well that’s today’s GTA countdown. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, which is quite a lot actually because it was the single most exciting thing i’ve done today,
Can’t wait for tomorrow when i’ll have actually done something, wait for it…Different! Yep rather than play games all day i’l be watching Man United hopefully trash The Gooners and put us on course for another Premier League trophy.

Well yesterday I decided without having a decent single player game to play for the next two weeks or so i’d treat myself. I went out to good ol’ Warrington to grab me some stuff.
I picked up Dark Sector, a game I thought looked pretty good, for the small sum of about £18 after using some in-store credit that is. As of now i’m really enjoying it. I haven’t really grasped the story as of yet so might need to check wikipedia but that’s about it. The actions fast and furious with enemies coming from everywhere. The graphics are great and are some of the best i’ve seen in a while. At the moment the game seems really good I like it’s direction and its dark gritty setting and it’s looking good. i just hope I can finish it before GTA arrives.
Stepping away from games now and moving into TV land. HBO show Entourage is one of my favourite shows so I went and picked up the ‘Season 3 Part 2′ DVD box set too. Will be watching that one tonight
Check in tomorrow when i’ll update you on the really boring and mediocre crap that i’ve been doing.
