As, well, probably none of you will know, I am not a full time ‘video games journalist’. I am a college student and this occasionally gets in the way of things such as writing for the site. For the past three months i’ve been working on the above video. I, with my fellow cohorts, have been working pretty much none stop to make sure this video makes it out before the deadline (10:30 Friday 12th December). This has lead to some setbacks in the amount of news and features on the site, for that I apologize. I do hope you recognize why I have had to put this project first, but also want to say that XeNonX has my full attention from here on out.
I realise by now that most of the people reading this think i’m either a wuss or full of shit. I’ll leave it for you do decide, but whilst you do, why not stick on the video and well…I don’t know, do something I guess.

EA being generous, no way. It seems like EA’s semi-generous streak is continuing. This time it comes alongside the release of the highly anticipated, parkour based, FPS (sort of) Mirrors Edge. EA are giving away 5 free songs from the game’s soundtrack. To download them click here. Now wasn’t that easy. I’ve no idea how good (or bad) the aformentioned music is, but you can’t complain it’s costing nothing.

As you know, XeNonX generally covers gaming news from all over the world, every once and awhile though us bloggers actually get off our butts and do something…you know in the outside world. This world unfortunately is a loud and busy place that often times is best drowned out with headphones (Sony brand of course). So we at XeNonX thought of compiling a list of or favorite go to albums, our top 5 (or 6, Ryan
) picks of ALL time! These are the albums we just can’t get enough of. We hope you listen to our personal opinions. that you’ve grown to trust, and give a little of your time to listen to our favorite artist’s. I like to think of these choices as our ‘desert Island discs’. Hit the jump for the first of the lists (mine).
Enjoy! (more…)

Linger In Shadows might have only been 7 minutes long, but if you’ve played it you’ll know the soundtrack is pretty damn good. Developers Plastic are coming over all generous and are giving away the soundtrack to their demoscene free on their website. The zip file contains the soundtrack to LIS as well as a track from one of their other projects ‘Into The Pink’.
You can download the soundtrack here. If you don’t want to pay for the ‘thing’ then you can watch a YouTube video after the jump, it dosen’t have trophies though. (more…)

News comes in that the PixelJunk Eden soundtrack is being released on September 30th on Amazon and Play Asia. Rather than release the soundtrack via the PSN like last time, it seems that Sony have decided to release the soundtrack on CD at retail price.
Of course this dosen’t mean that it isn’t coming to PSN, I hope it does £15 is a little steep.

Some NeoGaffers have been hard at work making a custom soundtrack for WipeOut HD. By all accounts the soundtrack to the game is great as it is but it’s nice to see a community coming together to make something really cool for a game, especially a soundtrack. Here’s what they had to say:
“We’re a bunch of NeoGAF posters who make electronic music. Some of us veterans, some of us amateurs, but we all share a passion for videogames and electronic music.”
I’m supplying a link but make sure you check out the full list of credits over at the Gaf.

Media Molecule have given the public a look at what to expect from LittleBigPlanet’s manual. The PDF file allows users to read the game’s manual before the game comes out at the end of October. Not only this but it also reveals the game’s soundtrack. Hit the jump for the list. (more…)

Mark Ronson’s single “Oh My God” from his 2007 album “Version” is a delightful track Featuring Lily Allen on vocals. No matter how hard I try I just can’t seem to get this song out of my head. From the bold trumpets and bangin’ bass drum to Lily Allen’s quirky lyrics, this single was composed from the ground up to be instantly catchy.

I am a Mancunian and proud of it! I love everything about the city of Manchester, especially the music. The city has brought the world some fine musicians and bands over the years one of those musicians is Oasis’ Noel Gallagher. He was recently interviewed by Music Radar and was asked for his opinion on music games (i.e. Guitar Hero). Hit the jump to see what ol’ Noel had to say.

Well EA announced the full tracklisting for the latest itteration in their highly successful Madden series today and I, unlike most people out there, couldn’t give a toss. EA have releaed a press release talking about how important the Madden series is and how:
“Madden NFL revolutionized the industry by making music of multiple genres – from both established acts and brand-new artists – an essential emotional component of the videogame experience and the NFL season itself… Not only have we changed the gaming culture forever, we continue to move the needle musically for millions of people around the world. Madden NFL will always be recognized as the game that made the music matter in videogames.”
It’s a bit of a slow day news wise so here’s what i’m reduced to talking about a really quite boring stop-start American sport’s game. I have played the Madden franchise multiple times before and can say that it’s hard to get through one match without wanting and wishing you could fall asleep in an instant or maybe have your eyes raked out because it’d be more of a thrill. (rant over…for now).
Madden is a really big deal in the US but i’m from the UK. Why dosen’t our premiere sports game (obviously FIFA) get a massive launch party and have masses of people filling the streets of major cities? I just don’t get it.
I’ll have to be all professional now so here’s the full tracklist for Madden 09’s soundtrack:
Airbourne Stand Up For Rock ‘N Roll
Busta Rhymes feat. Linkin Park We Made It
Disturbed Inside The Fire
Franz Ferdinand Lucid Dreams
From First To Last Worlds Away
Gym Class Heroes I’m Home
Hollywood Undead Undead
In Flames The Mirror’s Truth
Innerpartysystem Don’t Stop
Izza Kizza Millionaire
K’NAAN ABC’s
Kardinal Offishall feat. Lindo P Burnt
Kidz In The Hall Blackout
KOVAS Wax On, Wax Off
Mindless Self Indulgence Never Wanted To Dance
Rev Theory Hey Yeah
Senses Fail Wolves At The Door
Shinedown Devour
The All-American Rejects The Real World (Demo)
The Fashion Like Knives
The Offspring Hammerhead
Trivium Into The Mouth Of…We March
Tyga Diamond Life
Underoath Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Wale feat. Southeast Slim Breakdown
Young Dre The Truth feat. Good Charlotte Workin’
I do have to admit they’ve got some good songs in there but a whole press release just for this? Please.
I’ve got a feeling this post’s going to generate some negativity from commenters. Oh well, bring on the mob.
Well I did say it’d be up soon and it is. How soon is now? (sorry bad Smiths reference). Anyway hope you enjoy it and please…be gentle.

Yeah, I got myself the soundtracks for GTA Vice City & San Andreas and have realized just how much my musical taste has grown in 6 years. Of course I knew of David Bowie and Lionel Ritchie but I didn’t know their music, if you know what I mean.
Just looking through the track lists for both games made me want to go and get these and I’m glad I did. I basically thought that using these soundtracks in GTA IV (If it has custom soundtracks on the PS3 – I haven’t succumbed to the spoilers). I thought it’d be cool listening to some of the older radio stations in the game and that was a big selling point on these soundtracks for me.
I really do hope the PS3 version of GTA IV supports custom soundtracks because these soundtracks will be even better then.

When I saw this I was crying with laughter. Charlie Daniels has come out and said on his website that he feels Gutiar Hero III perverted his song ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’, because the devil can win. The country singer, 71 said:
“I want any of you parents out there whose children have this game to know that I did not grant these people my permission to pervert my song and am disgusted with the result. Unfortunately I lost the publishing rights on the song many years ago in a settlement with a former partner and the license to Guitar Hero was granted by the company who now owns the publishing”.
Well that’s sets us straight.

Checked the U.S. PS Store last night and what did I find; well a lot fucking more than on the UK store
. Rant over. Anyway I heard that singer/rapper/collaborator extraordinaire Wyclef Jean had used Burnout: Paradise (PS3 Version) in his new video for “Fast Car” which also features Paul Simon. Well the video looks great and all but the song is absolutley amazing, well I love it. It’s free so I recomend everyone at least give it a try. Not that much good to me, exept ‘Rock Band’ DLC, on the store, hey Sony a Demo would’ve been nice. The song is up for a ‘limited time’ so go, now, stop reading and download it!
This song is also available on Wyclef’s new album ‘The Carnival II: Memoirs Of An Immigrant’ which also features the single ‘Sweetest Girl’
