So let’s see what those Americans have this week. Flower also makes an appearance here too, there’s some cool downloadable stuff, but generally it’s a slow week for PSN games. I think Sony might have delayed some stuff in order to give Flower a better run, if not I think it’ll help either way. (more…)

Yes, it’s late I know. You didn’t really expect the update to be on time did you? You did, well…fair enough. So yeah, for once in a long while BOTH of the PlayStation Store updates are late. Sorry. If you’re all amped up about me being late, for £6.29 you can calm yourselves down with Thatgamecompany’s Flower. Also this week sees the return of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, a new demo for Motorstorm 2 and some new paid-for content for LittleBigPlanet. Hit the jump for the full list. It has been revealed that with the new update FIFA 09 will be getting full trophy support. Earlier this week it was announced that a new downloadable pack, ‘Ultimate Team’, would bring some trophies to the game but now it has come to light that a full set of trophies is to be implemented in a free patch.

EA have just let us know that the recently delayed Godfather II game will now be released in April. The game was originally set to release around the end of this month, but was delayed in order to give the game more of a push marketing-wise. With all of the other massive titles coming out at that time (Killzone 2, Steet Fighter IV e.t.c.), I think the game might have been missed by many. I think an April release will help the game a hell of a lot, good business decision from EA there.

New York Comic Con has wrapped up and it looks like we’ve missed a few things. In particular, some new screenshots from Sucker Punch’s upcoming, superpowered, action title inFamous. This game looks to to be shaping up quite well, but with this and Prototype in serious competition, who’s going to come out on top? We’ll have to wait and see won’t we, but for now check out these new screens…they’re pretty cool. Enjoy!

[By Anthony]
Just after the release after the winter update, there’s more FIFA 09 news to share. Announced this morning was some new downloadable content for EA’s popular footy game and it sounds, well, kinda cool. The new ‘Ultimate Team’ mode is said to “deliver a strategic new online experience” to the game. The challenge is for the player to create or collect the best team and compete against others worldwide. This new downloadable content will also add trophy support to the PS3 version of the game, which is really cool, but why not just give the whole game trophies?
The mode is card based (wait don’t stop reading yet), players need to collect bronze, silver and gold cards. It’s not only players you’ll be collecting either, coaching staff will be available too, as well as different formations and contract upgrades.
You’ll also be able to create your own team. You’ll be able to:
” Customize everything from players and stadiums to the kits and badges, creating the world’s next great football club. Compete offline and online to earn more valuable cards or trawl the market for the ones needed to complete a winning team. Climb the league table or compete in knockout tournaments for the most coveted trophies, where the opposition becomes more difficult after each victory.”
The ‘Ultimate Team’ content will be available to download from March 19th (more than likely 20th for PS3). The press release also states that some kind of trial will be available to players, allowing them to try before they buy. Sounds, alright. No pricing has been announced as of yet, rest assured we’ll keep you informed on all the latest goings on. Hit the jump for screenshots. (more…)

Ubisoft have announced today that a demo for their new Tom Clancy game H.A.W.X. will be coming to the PlayStation Store this coming Thursday. The demo will contain two levels from Ubi’s latest game under the Tom Clancy brand, but how will it hold up against more prominent flight-based games Ace Combat and WarHawk? Well we’ll have to wait and see on that one. Hit the jump for the screenshots.

Good news for all you Riddick fans, the final release date has been confirmed and it’s also been revealed there’s a demo on the way. The game is coming on April 7th in North America with the demo coming in early March to give players a heads up on what the game is like. Assault On Dark Athena is partly a remake of the original Chronicles Of Riddick game (Escape From Butcher Bay) with a whole host of new content added in. It looks and sounds pretty cool, watch this space. I think this one will be one of 2009’s sleeper hits.

Sony have announced that a set of Sackboy action figures will be hitting shelves courtesy of Mezco Toys. The figures are four inches tall and will be released this spring. Alongside these smaller figures, Mezco will be releasing special edition figures ranging from eight to twelve inches tall. Sony have also said that they’re still working on Sackboy plushies, now that would be much cooler.

UPDATE: The update is now out, to get it go to Adidas Live Season and download the latest update. If it comes back saying you have the latest update go to league selection and click on the league of your choice. I chose the Premier League so I clicked on that and downloaded the latest update from there.
EA’s David Rutter has confirmed that the FIFA 09 Winter Update will be delayed due to a small bug. They are hopeful that it will be released either today or tomorrow.
I’m particularly looking foward to it as my beloved United will hopefully have had their stats changed to a more realistic level, Danny Welbeck a 64 for gods sake and Berba deserves more than an 86. Also Edwin’s rating has gone down drastically on the inaccurate Adidas Live Update, this after keeping 13 consecutive Premier League clean sheets.
It will also update the transfers that took place during the January transfer window. Tosic to Utd, Keane back at Spurs, Becks to Milan etc. Full quote from the FIFA forum after the jump. (more…)

Capcom have today confirmed that Dead Rising 2 is on it’s way and will be set years after the original in a place called Las Vegas Fortune City. It is being developed in partnership with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games.
It will be coming to the PS3, PC and 360 and if they have fixed the save system it will be a sure fire hit across all 3 platforms. The first game is probably the best game I played on the 360 and I will definitely be buying this for my PS3.
Full press release after the jump.

Slant 6’s SOCOM: Confrontation has finally been given a European release date. The question is…is anyone arsed? I think not. Those living in North America have been able to play the game since late last year. Although it looked promising at first, it didn’t live up to what it could’ve been and it’s ‘problematic’ release didn’t help either.
Either way, if you’re living in Europe and, even with the above comments and the less than impressive review scores (click here to to see Giancarlo’s verdict), you want to play it’s coming out on March 13th…and subsequently going up against Resident Evil 5. I guess it was going to flop anyway, releasing it then gives Sony an excuse.

Sniper Rifle = Good
[By Anthony]
Zen Studios’, PSN-exclusive, Punisher: No Mercy is coming to the PS3 this spring. Not only did the press release contain the release window info but 6 new screenshots full of explodey goodness. When it was originally announced I was a little skeptical, but looking at these screenshots I think it could actually be good. Check out the screens above and below.

Remember those screens we posted a little while back showing a Paradise City Police Car? Sure you do. Well, Criterion have announced today that a new ‘Cops & Robbers’ mode is coming for Burnout: Paradise.
According to the “Criterion Games Network” (viewable on the PS3 and PC versions),this DLC will arrive after all of the other previously announced packs (excluding the island). It’s apparently “dedicated to bringing the thrills and spills of cops and robbers car chases in Paradise City.”. Sounds good, hopefully we’ll get more info soon. Nice job guys.
