Naughty Dog have released a slew of new screens for, the extremely impressive looking, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The screens show off some of the new environments you’ll be battling your enemies in, your new lady friend and a gruftier (damn you Ian!) looking Nathan Drake (above). Take a look at the gallery below.

We’re getting unconfirmed reports that the, thought to be doomed, developer Free Radical may, in fact, be safe after all. 1Up are reporting that the studio has been bought by none other than CryTek, developers of the original Far Cry and most recently Crysis. This is great news for the Nottingham based studio, that is if it’s true. Here’s hoping it is, they need to redeem themselves after Haze.

Under Seige (no not the Segal movie), another PS3 exclusive tower defence game is coming this ‘fall’ to the PlayStation Store. The game was unveiled last year, but no one has heard or seen anything of it since. Well now, developer, Seed Studios have announced that the game is coming to the PSN towards the end of the year. Best of all – it’ll include a level editor and users will be able to share their levels online. We have a couple of screens from the Alpha build and, let’s just say i’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

Best Buy Offer Says More Pearl Jam Is Coming To Rock Band

For those who didn’t know, Pearl Jam’s album Ten is coming to Rock Band next month and you might just get more if Best Buy have anything to do with it. An offer from the american big box retailer has surfaced which says that those who pre-order the re-release of the album, due out March 24th, will get a code for three more Pearl Jam tracks for Rock Band. Those tracks are:

  • Brother
  • Alive (Drop In The Park Concert Version)
  • State Of Love And Trust (Drop In The Park Concert Version)

So it looks like Pearl Jam fans might be forced to pick the album up if they want as much Pearl Jam as they can get. There’s no indication if these tracks will be coming for a price, but I suspect they will do at some point. Either way, if you want them early pre-order the remaster of Ten.

Capcom Confirms No Run & Gun In Resi 5

Now maybe it’s just me, or, well me and Ad’s but is anyone else finding the Resident Evil 5 controls horrendous? After playing the demo of the game both of us feel that buying the game will be a waste of time because of the crappy control scheme. Our last hope would’ve been Capcom saying: “Yeah, we’ll add in run and gun controls” or something to that effect, when in fact they’ve done the opposite.

In a new community blog post Capcom have confirmed that no such controls will be added or patched into their upcoming survival horror action game.

“While RE5 is very action-heavy, the base RE game design mechanic of holding fast while shooting remains,” says the Capcom blog. Newcomers to the series may need to make some “mental readjustments,” but the controls have remained this way to establish a sense of risk and danger while in combat. The new controls will instead grant “more natural motion to the second analog stick on your 360 or PS3 controller,”

Whilst there might be strong arguments for both sides of the RE5 controls saga, I personally feel that a game like that, with that many enemies on screen, needs better controls.

Street Fighter IV, Resi 5 Invade Home

It looks like Capcom have been hard at work giving the fans something cool in PlayStation Home. The Japanese developer are adding a slew of Street Fighter costumes into Sony’s social service as well as Resident Evil 5 costumes and an RE 5 themed game space. Little is known about these add-on’s as of yet, but i’m sure they’ll sell if they’re not overpriced (of course, the game space is free). I wonder if they’ll chuck in a zombie themed mini game? I hope so. More on this when we get the info.

It’s New York Comic Con, and whilst you might not expect any major news to come out of there, there is one interesting tidbit that’s worthy of a mention. An email from Activision says that free roaming action title Prototype (not to be confused with Sony’s inFamous, although they’re similar) is slated for a June 2009 release. I like the potential this game has, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until the summer to find out if it’s good or not.

ABBA got their own version of Sony’s popular singing game so it was only right that rock gods Queen got their own version too. Announced a few months back, it looks like the game is on the horizon as Sony have released the final tracklist for the title which will be available on disc and as a download, presumably from the SingStore. Although, there’s a bit of a bonus with the Blu-Ray version which might make you go ‘ga ga’ (sorry). Hit the jump for the tracklist and more. (more…)

EA Delays Godfather II

As Ad’s kindly commented before EA have delayed the release of The Godfather II. The game was slated for release towards the end of the month, but has now been pushed back to the April-June time frame. EA’s John Riccitiello has said that he felt the game needed more of a marketing push and that EA needed to generate more excitement for the game. Marketing wasn’t the only fault though, Riccitiello also blamed the 2008 ‘holiday’ season, saying:

“To be honest with you, we looked at the title, title feels very solid It will appeal to its audience well and it was likely to ship, as we had originally planned it, into a very cluttered, price reduced excess inventory channel both in North America and Europe in a heavy competitive environment. We didn’t think it would get its best shot at success in [fiscal] Q4.”

Either way the game does look good. Although, I do recall that the game was meant to ship around the same time as Killzone 2. Could this have something to do with the delay? I’m guessing we’ll never know.

EA Confirms Mass Effect 2 Will Be Multiplatform, Bad Company 2 Announced To

EA made one hell of an announcement yesterday. It had been rumored for a while that the sequel to BioWare’s RPG Mass Effect would make it’s way onto the PS3 and EA have now confirmed this, to the delight of many a PS3 owner. The game was announced at the most recent of EA’s financial earnings calls.  Also announced was the sequel to the extremely popular first person shooter Battlefield: Bad Company. Not bad, not bad at all. Not too much else to report. There’s no word about a possible port of the original Mass Effect to the PS3, but I think we can expect it. Especially with a 360 game of the year edition around the corner. The games have been given no formal release date but, according to EA’s John Riccitiello the games will be out before Q4 2010.

Who thought getting from A to B could be such a challenge? Upon first glance Cuboid definitely seems a very simple concept with a rather easy goal – get from A to B without falling. Well…it’s not that simple. The second of the three games released by Creat Studios and Tik Games, Cuboid is a simple puzzler with enough upstairs to warrant it being one of the most challenging games on the PlayStation Network.
