The game is due out in October (Noooooo!) but if you can’t wait there’s been some new screens released from the highly anticipated online shooter ‘SOCOM: Confrontation’. I’ver looked over the screens and it could be that they’re “bad scans” but they don’t look much like a PS3 game to me. Thing is SOCOM isn’t about graphics, but it always helps to have something nice to look at.
Kotaku have got the rest of the screens.

EyePet, Sony’s PS Eye using virtual pet, was revealed at Leipzig last week. Sony only provided us with a little teaser trailer showing a little monkey thing reacting to various gestures made by the shiny advert-esque people in the trailer. Sony have released two new screens from the game (or screengrabs from the trailer) showing very little of the game’s content. Ah well, they look nice. Hit the jump for the other pic.

The ammount of things that LittleBigPlanet & Home have in common is quite a lot. They both rely on players being creative and customizing their environment, they’re both highly anticipated, they’re both out this ‘fall’ (apparently) and they’re both PS3 exclusives. With all of those similarities it dosen’t surprise me that people are asking the question “will there be any shared content between LBP and Home?”. Whilst this hasn’t been confirmed, could it be that this is Alex Evans big announcement? Hit the jump for more.

If you didn’t already know WarHawk’s new booster pack ‘Operation: Fallen Star’ is out on the PS Store worldwide this week. The new booster gives players 30 new map configurations including 10 for the new map ‘Tau Crater’. Jetpacks are also included in the new pack and according to various sources they handle pretty well.
The pack has been priced at $8 for the U.S. and i’m expecting that the regular price of £3.99 will remain in the UK. There’s also a new offer coming to the U.S. which allows users to download all three booster packs for $16, which basically is giving payers one pack free. It has not been confirmed if this is coming to Europe, but I suspect it will be.
Remember, the WarHawk trophy patch is also coming this week. That’s something I have been really looking forward too, but then i’m a trophy whore.

‘Linger In The Shadows’ is that weird tech demo thing that Sony put out a few months back. It was then revealed to be a game and basically we’ve heard nothing since, until now. According to the official PlayStation website the game will be hiitng the PlayStation Store in Europe this week. The interactive demo seems to be aother of Sony’s quirky, artsy experiments. I have only seen very breif footage of the thing but it looks interesting to say the least. I’ll put up my thoughts on Thursday or Friday after checking it out.
So let me get this right. First it was a tech-demo, then it was a game and now it’s back to being a tech-demo. I don’t know enough about it so I think i’m just gonna have to trust Sony on this one.

Home has been around for a while now, the concept has aparently been in development since the PS2’s glory days, but with all the delays and such it looked like 2008 would be another year without Sony’s social networking service. That, apparently, is not the case. One of the members of the Home dev team, Martijn Van der Meulen, has told IGN:
“it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year”
100% eh? Sounds promising. As always more news when we get it.

When I was browsing Play.com’s PS3 ‘coming soon’ list for the list in the previous post I found something quite interesting. The online retailer currently has the PS3 version of Rock Band and the Drumkit (sold seperately) listed for release on the 12th of October.
This is obviously just a rumor and is unconfirmed but it has been a while since we heard anything on the PS3 version of Rock Band in Europe. so it could be real. I’ve got a feeling that 12th October was the rumored release date for the PS3 version of Rock Band 2 in America.
Could it be that Play.com have caught wind of this and have slapped the date on the original game? Or could it be that Harmonx/EA/MTV Games are going to coincide the European release date of the original Rock Band with the U.S. release of RB2?
I’ll try and find out more soon, it does look like Europeans could be seeing Rock Band this year.Click the image for the listing on Play

Over the next few months there are a ton of new games coming out. Now it’s not unusual (Tom Jones FTW!) for this to happen towards the end of the year but this year it is insane. There’s some really cool games coming out it’s just a shame that they’re all out within days of oneanother. I’ve made a list of the really good stuff coming out and have included dates so you can see this for yourself.
September:
- Mercenaries 2: World In Flames – 5/09/08
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – 19/09/08
- Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway -26/09/08
October:
- FIFA 09 – 04/10/08
- Saints Row 2 – 17/10/08
- BioShock – 24/10/08
- LittleBigPlanet – 29/10/08
- Fallout 3 – 31/10/08
- Dead Space – 31/10/08
- James Bond: Quantum Of Solace – 31/10/08
There’s more cool stuff coming too I really do think that i’m gonna be strapped for cash over the next few months. Some of those dates have not been confirmed but this is what Play.com have got down so i’m sticking with them.

The Kratos Sackboy costume was announced to be one of the pre-order bonuses available in the U.S. via GameStop. A poster over at NeoGaf has confirmed that the Sackboy costume for Kratos will be able to be shared by pre-orderers with their friends because it will be accessed by a code input into the PSN, meaning it can be shared.
This is good for some people, but personally I can’t see Sony or Media Molecule not selling these on the store after launch anyway. The poster has provided proof via the image above.

EA’s parkour ‘em up ‘Mirrors Edge’ looks really promising, but is it going to be a timed exclusive on the PS3? The answer to that is…Nope! SCEE’s David Reeves said last week at GC:
“We are continuously, month after month publishing new titles that bring something unique to different target groups. In a month, it is Gran Turismo, in the next SingStar, as well as Third-Party titles [such] as Mirror’s Edge by Electronic Arts are part of this strategy”
This was misquoted by a German site who sort of read between the lines and decided that Reeves was announcing that ‘Mirrors Edge’ would be a PS3 timed exclusive. That was a shame because it’d be a really cool, innovative exclusive for the PS3 to get but obviously it wasn’t going to get. An EA spokesperson spoke to Button Masher and confirmed that the game would not be exclusive, timed or not for either system, saying:
“Mirror’s Edge will not be timed exclusive for PS3″
Shame really.

Anything after the 60GB PS3 in Europe won’t play PlayStation 2 games. It’s crap, especially as there’s a ton of great games people haven’t played on that system. The older games might look a bit crappy on a high def television when they’re played on a PS3 but it’s still nice to be able to play games from your collection on one console. Hit the jump for me speculating it up.

It’s the German Games Convention (or Leipzig) this week so it’s been a little hectic around here, because of this a lot of the regular ‘features’ are late. There’s been a lot of Sony news coming through to us over the past week bu yes we editors have had time to get some gaming done too. There might be a lot of stuff coming out over the next month or two but there’s still some cool stuff out now too. So after that boring lengthy intro it’s time for a late ‘What Games Do You Game?’.

- Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty (PS3 Via PSN) – Another highly anticipated PSN title out again last week and although it might not be the complete experience Insomniac have really pulled out all the stops on their 1st downloadable Ratchet & Clank mini-adventure. I’m only a couple of levels in to it and have already found it’s more puzzle orientated than the full priced Ratchet games, which for me is not a problem. The game is still really cool and hasn’t disapointed me, i’m gonna play a lot more of it over the next few days so be sure to look out for my review, yes a review people.
- Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) – Still kicks more ass than any FPS on the market. I stil can’t believe i’m playing it this long after release. I’ve seen some new footage for ‘World At War’ and I have to say, although it’s Treyarch developing it looks really cool. Can’t wait, but it would be better in a modern setting though.
- Rock Band (PS3) – Still really cool, i’ve actually made it towards the end (I think) of ‘Band World Tour’ and i’m actually playing songs for the first time. Bring on Rock Band 2. Still needs more Manchester in there though.
A really short list this week and only one new title in there too. Things are getting patched with trophies soon so there’ll be some new additions to the list over the next few weeks but for me that’s it. I will try and make the next ‘WGDYG?’ appear on time next week.
