No, Gabe Newell has not had a sudden change of heart, but it seems Valve’s Doug Lombardi has. Gabe Newell has said in the past that the PS3 is “a waste of time” and wouldn’t even develop the PS3 version of ‘The Orange Box’.Well it looks like Newell is about to get a bite on the arse by the PS3 (not perfect, but it’ll do).
The PS3 is going from strength to strength worldwide and it now looks like Valve have sat up and taken notice of Sony’s chrome and black juggernaut. Doug Lombadi spoke to CVG, hit the jump to see what he had to say.
“We’re always evaluating what’s happening in the marketplace and certainly something that’s happening in the last couple of months is that Sony’s managed to sell some boxes,”. “So whether or not you like developing for that platform, if they’ve got millions of people connected to that platform and buying their games you have to take it seriously.”
There might be no chance that we’re going to see ‘Left 4 Dead’ on the PS3 this year it’s not totally out of the question that it might get an 09 release. After playing Portal, Team Fortress 2 (and a little of Half Life 2) I really do like Valve, here’s hoping that we PS3 owners do see L4D at some point in the near future.
