Bethesda’s highly anticipated Fallout 3 has now been given a release date. Whoo! No, not whoo, crap! Yep that’s right I am dreading to pick and choose what to buy in October and this addition to the list doesn’t help things.
Bethesda announced today:
“We are very excited to let gamers get their hands on Fallout 3, the latest chapter in this beloved and highly acclaimed franchise,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. “To meet the huge demand for this title by our fans worldwide, we are planning one of the biggest launches of any game released this year.”
There’s a ton of games out in October and this addition to the list dosen’t help. Maybe I can borrow the money off someone until I get paid. The other thing is that i’m at another event on the 31st so I might have to ShopTo this one and get it early. I’m still getting it though.

It was announced a few weeks ago that WarHawk would be getting a new expansion pack, ‘Operation Fallen Star’. Well it was shown off at Leipzig today and it’s looking really cool. The pack contains a new map called ‘Tau Crater’ (which can be used in 10 battle maps) as well as the Icarus M. 1 Rocket Pack (in other words – a Jetpack). Said jetpack will be able to take out ground troops and WarHawks.

At first this might seem VERY over the top but, to me at least, it makes a lot of sense. EA announced today at Leipzig that FIFA 09 would be getting stat updates weekly to reflect how players are doing in real life as well as in the game.
The ‘Addidas Live Season’ add-on will use a network of people to compile stats and rate player performances per week, hopefully adding a new depth to online games. At the moment the feature will only work for the Barclay’s Premier League, Spain’s League BBVA, France’s Ligue 1, the German Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A and the Mexican Premiera Division.
Andrew Wilson from EA said:
“The game will feel and play differently each week. With Adidas Live Season if Ronaldinho has a great match on the weekend you’ll feel the difference when you pick up the controller as his in-game attributes increase.”
This is sweet and should definitely add some depth to online games. It’d be nice, i guess, if it worked in the ‘Manager Mode’ but I think it’ll affect the online games much more. This is not the PS3 exclusive feature that was announced a few months back, but I was told that the mode would be announced at Leipzig so hopefully we’ll find out some news on it soon.

The PS3 version of SingStar is about to get a massive content update thanks to Sony and a PS3 firmware update. Sony announced today at Leipzig that a new firmware update would allow players to rip songs from the PS2 versions of SingStar and import them into into the PS3 game.
David Reeves didn’t give any info away but it definitely seems like a great step forward for Sony and might make PS2 owners want to upgrade to a PS3 for this sequel. Which has got to be the thinking behind this.
Not of too much interest to me but it’s nice for all those SingStar fans out there.

Earlier in the week it was announced that all of the forthcoming instruments for Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour would be compatible with oneanohter. At their Leipzig press conference today Activision announced that the original Rock Band drums would work with their new game.
Kotaku’s Mike Fahey spoke with Activision’s Brian Bright after the conference who explained how the Rock Band drums would work with the new Guitar Hero game. I had my doubts that they would work because of the ammount of pads on the World Tour drums compared to the Rock Band ones. Either way it has been announced that they will be compatible which is sweet for me. I’ll let Mr. Fahey explain after the jump. (more…)

It was only a matter of time before Sony got one of these out and i’m surprised that I actually want one. The official Sony PS3 controller-keypad is on it’s way this winter. The new keypad will clip onto the DualShock 3/SixAxis controller and will help with in game messaging. internet browsing and will also feature a touchpad feature for mouse input. SCEE Presidnent David Reeves said that the new keypad could also be used in future videogame development.
The keypad will ship in eight different configurations to cope with the ammount of languages. Click the jump for another image and more deets.
