Laugh if you will, but even with all the major AAA titles coming out on the PS3 this year it is EA Sports’ ‘FIFA 09′ that I am looking forward to most. I was hoping that EA would implement the PS3’s new trophy system into their footy sim, sadly that isn’t the case. Hit the jump to find out why.

Amazon, like many online retailers, are not usually the most credible sources but withe ammount of detail Amazon US have put into their listing for Resistance 2’s Collectors Edition, it seems hard not to believe them.
The game is listed at $79.99 and will include the usual things you’d find in a collectors edition. Hit the jump for the full list of Resistance 2 Collectors Edition goodies.

Sony’s other, far less interesting, free online service ‘Life With PlayStation’ was meant to come out this month but has been delayed again. Noam Rimon of SCEA and R&D said that “paperwork” was what was holding up the new service. It was also revealed that the service would work in conjunction with ‘Folding@Home’, so it’ll let us cure cancer whilst doing other stuff.
To be honest looking at the news and weather via my PS3 isn’t something that I really want to do so I can wait. Rimon said that we had to wait “a little bit longer”, which sounds like we’ll see it in September.
Like I said, it’s not that important but with another of Sony’s services being delayed it just seems to fuel the barrage of 360 fanboys saying “the PS3 is [insert insult here]“.

Today the Home beta client was updated to version 0.98. The new update has added various different places for you to go like the new Home Square. Not only that the update adds areas for you to listen to music and have the virtual you dance (above).
At 0.98 you’ve gotta believe that the magical 1.0 version of Home is coming soon. Hopeully that means that us non beta commoners will get to hang around in Home too.

We have just been informed that the ‘SOCOM: Confrontation’ public beta has been delayed. The beta, that was meant to kick off on September 1st (for GameStop pre-orderers), has been delayed to September 5th. It’s not too long to wait, which is good and because of this the beta will be extended to October 5th.
The Quore customers who get access to the beta are still going to get it on September 8th. Hopefully i’ll get in, even though i’m not in the U.S.

I think everyone and their mother expected Sony to bundle their PS3 console with the upcoming funfest that is Little Big Planet, so here’s a glimpse of the retail packaging for your viewing pleasure, including an 80gb PS3, dualshock controller and a copy of the game, expect prices to be around the £299 mark when it hits the shops in November.

Today Battlefield developers announced they are to release a new add on map pack this autum, the pack will contain 4 maps, and here’s the best part, you get to decide on 2 maps from the single player game get the multiplayer treatment. A vote is being held for on the official webiste and the developers will decide on a further 2 themselves. Personally I’ve been hoping for an updated Wake Island as it has appeared it pretty much every Battlefield game released, but it is good to see DICE supporting the title. You don’t have much time as the vote ends on the 2nd of September so to register your votes follow the link

I’m a huge Star Wars fan! there I’ve said it, I’ve come out of the closet and admited my most guilty pleasure. I can’t get enough of light saber duels, starship battles, Wookies, bad acting and Princess Lea in her space hooker outfit from Return of the Jedi. There I feel good for saying it, will I feel good after a run through of Lucasarts PS3 demo for SW:TFU? Well join with me my young Padawans and lets find out. (more…)

I have no idea if this has been announced yet, but on Tursday IGN’s Chris Roper announced that LittleBigPlanet would support multiple Sackboy’s on different PSN accounts in local multiplayer. I don’t think Roper would’ve announced this on the podcast if it wasn’t true so i’m pretty sure it is.
Like I said I have no idea if this has been confirmed or announced or anything but it definitely is cool for people with multiple people on their PS3’s (like me), who want to play with different people on different PSN accounts in local multiplayer.
Hopefully this’ll be intergrated into more PS3 games in the future.

I have noticed for a while now that XeNonX is lacking original content. We do our own impressions (when we can) and have in the past got the latest scoop on some things but I still think that the blog is missing something. That something is original content.
Well i’m on a mission to fix that. I have a couple of things in the works that will hopefully bring some more original content to the blog and give XeNonX it’s own personality, something that’s not usually seen when reporting news stories.
I would like to hear the toughts of the community (and my fellow editors) on the subject. I hope this is the start of something really cool for XeNonX.

According to a ‘ Best Buy insider’ the new PSP model, PSP-3000, is going to support some really rather cool things. Until now i’ve not reall paid any attention to the new PSP and just passed it off as just another iteration on what I already have, but this ‘insider’ has made my ears prick up.
The insider has said that the new PSP won’t just be slightly more streamlined, have a built in mic and have a better screen it will have support for your DualShock 3 and the TV-out feature will now output 480i instead of the 480p that it supports now.
Although the DualShock 3 thing sounds cool and would make the PSP control better it does sound a little unlikely as it would probably mean developers adapting their games to support this control.
Either way, i’m hoping that it’s true and that it can work but it seems quite unlikely. I’ve not upgraded my PSP from the the original fat system so I might pick one of these up…eventually.

Whilst people are voting for the Resistance 2 cover art it looks like the European art is already confirmed. Does that look familiar to you? (image above). Yes it’s the 3rd special edition cover I told you to vote on. According to ThreeSpeech that is the Resistance 2 cover art for Europe. Sweet, that’s the one I really liked.
I wonder what the U.S. standard edition will look like then?

The wait is over, for gamers in Asia at least. Sony announced today that they would be rolling out Home in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan in “Fall 2008″. This is not a rumor it has come directly from a Sony press release. To help make sure everything is ready for the people in those territories there’ll be an open beta, ahead of the launch, in September.
This seems like a step in the right direction so hopefully western gamers will be seeing Home shortly too.

Due to “unforseen complications” Harmonix have not added Rush’s album ‘Moving Pictures’ to the list of Rock Band DLC this week. It looks like it might take a few weeks to get it sorted so in order to not dissapoint Rock Band fans Harmonix have put some DLC from Brooklyn based band Locksley. I’ve never heard of them, but i’ll check ‘em out.
