It’s very rare that I make announcement now that the blog is up, running and full featured but I am announcing that I am returning to parodies. I used to do parodies of songs back in the XAVFS days and have sort of stopped doing them after changing blogs. Alas, they are going to be back I don’t know how frequently but they will be good.
I’m working on my latest parody as we speak and maybe I’ll move some of the older stuff over from the XAV blog if I can before this one is done. Like my other parodies it will be gaming related and I hope it turns out well.
So my next parody is going to be a bit of classic rock from quite a well known band. I’m not going to give anything away but feel free to guess and I will respond.
P.S. No the parody is not of a “Weird Al” Yankovic song. I know better than to parody a parody (can that be done?) but obviously Al is an acclaimed parody singer/songwriter.

There’s been a lot of activity on the music rhythm game front this week mostly leaks and with the announcement of Rock Band 2 there has been some major stuff to report. Fear not readers I have not forgotten the weekly Rock Band update and this week’s is REALLY cool. Finally Rock Band owners will be able to play some more Red Hot Chili Peppers. I know Dani California is in the game but this week we’re getting two new tracks to add to the collection. Alongside these tracks we’re also getting two tracks from Rush, which to me is less exciting but could still be cool.

If you don’t know Nate Ahern (how could you not) he’s part of IGN’s ‘Xbox Team and a frequent contributor (?) to IGN’s ‘Three Red Lights’ Podcast, obviously about the Xbox 360 and Microsoft stuff. As many readers will know I am a PlayStation only guy but I do have to keep up with gaming news even if it is Microsoft stuff plus that podcast is pretty funny. I went a bit off topic there but that’s my rather short and crappy introduction to Nate Ahern.
Anyway, a Kotaku reader had transcribed an interview of Nate’s from ‘IGN Insider’ where he was talking about Rock Band 2 and he may have announced something kinda cool. Here’s the transcription:
“Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour create an interesting situation for gamers. If you bought Rock Band 1 then chances are you’ll feel cheated by the release of RB2, thus you’d think that GHWT would be the way to go as it somewhat redefines the music gaming genre. However, if you didn’t buy the first Rock Band then I would absolutely agree with notagoth. Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download. Then again, Guitar Hero World Tour does allow users to create and share their own songs, so it’s really only a matter of time until the Rock Band library is eclipsed. At the end of the day it could come down to which series has earned your allegiance over the last year since RB’s original release.”
Now if you read closely Nate says that “…you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs as well as all of the songs off of the original Rock Band disc as a free download”. How this’ll work I have no idea and maybe the guy just slipped up but if it is it’s pretty cool. It means that, as long as this feature does not require a disc, I can download this stuff and then trade in my copy of Rock Band 1.
I hope this is true because changing discs to play one song would be a huge pain in the arse so here’s hoping Nate’s slip up is true.

More leaks from music games but this time it’s pretty cool. Now maybe this is normal with the upcoming releases of Rock Band and Guitar Hero games (I followed very little music game stuff before I got Rock Band) but it does seem like a lot of rumor and speculation is floating around but anyway here goes.
A commenter on 8bitfix had said that they had gotten hold of a leaked track list for Rock Band 2 it does have a lot of cool stuff but there is two supposedly ‘leaked’ lists both with similar tracks but there is some conflict. It could also be that some of this is going to be DLC for either Rock Band or it’s sequel.

The songs on this list are really cool too especially ‘Pinball Wizard’ by The Who, which was rumored DLC for Rock Band and ‘Bad To The Bone’ by George Thorogood which is one of my all time favorite songs. The guitar riff is amazing!
That was a pretty big leak and i’m loving tracks from both lists so i’m hoping for some crossover. God I can’t wait for this game.
