I did say i’d be ‘cleaning up’ the blog and getting rid of some of the unused and crap features. Well I have done! You may see some of them in the sidebar but they’re there just to keep older posts in order but they won’t be updated.
The features ‘cleaned up’ are:
- Barmelo’s Corner – The blog has pretty much become this feature so there’s no need for it to be a separate section now. I have removed things from here and most have been engulfed into the ‘…In Other News’ section. Only the essays remain in the ‘corner’ now.
- Trading Thursday – This short lived item was bred out of boredom and has now been removed although the old posts remain in the section.
Whilst these have been removed some have been added.
- GTA Countdown – This is basically the section for the continuing GTA Countdown (duh!).
- …In Other News – Here is where weird news appears gaming or not and also contains the remainder of posts from the corner.
- Music – A section for music that will hopefully be expanded on.
- What Games Do You Game? – The ’stolen’ section which basically charts what i’ve been playing that week.

Mafia II, the sequel to multi-million selling Mafia (surprisingly). Is heading to PS3, 360 and PC simultaneously 2K games have announced.
According to various reports Mafia II will expand on the original game giving the player a chance to live life as a member of the mob in the 1950’s.
This sounds pretty sweet. Didn’t like the original much but this one looks like one to watch.

Some slightly better news for Europeans now. Echochrome, Sony’s new mind bogglingly good puzzle game, will be hitting PSN on May 3rd and will also be coming to PSP on UMD (as well as a download) too. The announcement that the game will be coming out on UMD in Europe and not in the US surprises me but maybe Sony feel that it might be accepted better here than in America.

When I saw this I was crying with laughter. Charlie Daniels has come out and said on his website that he feels Gutiar Hero III perverted his song ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’, because the devil can win. The country singer, 71 said:
“I want any of you parents out there whose children have this game to know that I did not grant these people my permission to pervert my song and am disgusted with the result. Unfortunately I lost the publishing rights on the song many years ago in a settlement with a former partner and the license to Guitar Hero was granted by the company who now owns the publishing”.
Well that’s sets us straight.

An old story again but at least it’s here. It has been confirmed that EA will be removing the paid for weapons from Battlefield: Bad Company, well that’s not exactly true. Battlefield will be released in two versions (Gold + Standard Editions) with people who buy the ‘Gold’ edition being able to access the weapons straight away whilst standard edition buyers will have to unlock the weapons in game. I guess it’s a sorta result.

After continuing to listen to the rather large 1Up Yours podcast whilst writing, I have found out that Rock Band is a timed Xbox 360 exclusive in Europe (Boo). The price is still not confirmed but most places (i.e. Eurogamer) are quoting £180. The timed exclusive means that PS2, PS3 and Wii versions of the game will follow later on in the year. Surprising move as the PS3 is more popular than the 360 in Europe but I guess that Bill and the guys threw a ton of money at it and that’s what happened. I do want to say though that although Rock Band is AMAZING it ain’t no system seller. I have also found out that although it’s a PAL territory Australia will not be getting the game at the same time.

I saw this on Kotaku before and thought it would be fun to post here. I know it’s almost stealing their subject but I thought that asking my 1’s of readers how they will be preparing for Grand Theft Auto IV. I’m gonna give you the plan I use for almost every big game release, especially online focused ones but GTA should almost achieve the same thing if not more.
It’s like this:
- Buy a ton of energy drinks – Yeah i’ve got the mini fridge going and it’s usually stocked with cans of whatever I can pick up cheap. Kick is my drink of choice at the minute as it’s 24p a can which is great and better than spending £1+ on a can of Red Bull.
- Stock up on snacks – Not leaving the experience for as long as possible is key when getting truly engrossed in a game so quick snacks are a must. I’d usually go with something light like crisps as they’re nice, quick to eat and don’t take up to much space.
- Cancel All Commitments – Even the blog will have to take a hike for a few days after GTA comes out. Why do you think i’m revising now for my exams at the end of May? So i’ve got more GTA time!
What are your plans for the impending release of GTA. Of course reading the blog has to be one of them!
Filed under: Gaming News | Tags: Europe, Exclusive Tracks, No PS3 Yet?, Rock Band

I should’ve posted about this earlier but I guess I just forgot as I already have Rock Band (sorry for bragging). Like many of you will know I imported Rock Band a few months back and absolutely love it and after hearing the European price and apparent PS3 delay I love it even more.
If you don’t already know a European release date for Rock Band has been announced (23rd May 2008) a good 6 months after it was released across the pond. Not only has EA, MTV, Harmonix or whoever announced a release date they’ve announced a price, £180! This to me is a complete rip off and I would be even more outraged had I not already bought the game.
I have converted this price into US dollars and it’s $300+ which is outrageous. Not only that but I have yet to find confirmation that a PS3 version will be shipping at the same time. I will provide an update when I can.
On the upside (if there is one), The game will ship with exclusive tracks on the disc (which will consequently be available in the US, thank god!) and all DLC currently available will be available at the European launch.
Like I said the price is outrageous and I personally would not pay £180 for this game even if it is AMAZING. The companies have tried to compensate with exclusive tracks but i’ve probably not paid that much including all of my DLC yet!
Oh well it’s us Europeans that loose out again. I do urge everyone who wants this game and own a PS3 to import it if they can get it at a reasonable price (I got mine for £125 delivered).
The timed exclusive tracks are listed below.
- Blur – Beetlebum (English)
- Oasis – Rock N’ Roll Star (English)
- Muse - Hysteria (English)
- Les Wampas – Manu Chao (French)
- Playmo – New Wave (French)
- Die Toten Hosen – Hier Kommt Alex (German)
- Juli – Perfekte Welle (German)
- H-Block X - Countdown To Insanity (German)

Just been listening to the 1Up Yours podcast and they were talking about Fallout 3. Now I wasn’t really interested in this game before now basically because I knew that Bethesda, the guys who made Oblivion, were making this game and that put me off.
I bought Oblivion within the first few months I had my PS3 and it lasted me 3 days because I really hated it. It seemed really cool at first but eventually it seemed like I was playing a better version of WOW on my own. I now have renewed faith after listening to this podcast.
This game seems to chart your characters life, literally from birth and carries on from there. With 500 proposed endings this game seems to get better and better and looks less like what Oblivion was and ultimately what I hated. This game seems like a fresh take on the massive open world RPG genre and hopefully it’ll be as well done on the PS3 as it is on the other consoles if not better.
